Sorry - the car is a 1996. my apologies.

The 1996 is very easy as there is a dipstick and filler tube on the automatic. The 2006 is hard because there is only a sleeved port in the pan and you have to overfill when cold.

How to know there is the right level of oil in the transmission of a 2006 vw jetta?

By using a scanner and opening the transmission drain plug and seeing if oil comes out.
ATF must be at a certain temperature for correct level.

Best left to a tech' who is VW specialist or VW dealership. ATF fluid is very expensive.

How to check transmission fluid level

Most 1995-on VW models don't have a transmission fluid dipstick for checking the transmission fluid level. To fill and check the level of the VW automatic transmission fluid you have to remove a plug on the side or bottom (location depends on model and if you have an automatic vs. manual transmission) of the transmission drain pan. The factory manual refers the expensive VAG 1924 special tool for pumping the VW automatic transmission fluid into the oil pan.

2006 manual transmission 2.5 Jetta - breaklights go on after parked for hours when it is very cold - drained battery last 2 days -

It's your Brake light switch. Could be dirty or stuck. It's located down near your brake pedal.
Very common with VW's. It seems to be more common when it's cold out...

How do i check transmissiom fluid 2006 jetta

Hi there,

Jetta's 2006 carry sealed gear box. There is no dip stick to check the transmission fluid. Per manufacturer, transmission fluid requires to change unless there is any issue with transmission. I hope this helps.

How do i check the tranny fluid level in my 2001 jetta

The average consumer cannot check transmission fluid in the 2000 VW jetta. You must go to a dealership for this service. The problematic transmissions are factory sealed and touted to be 'maintenance free' with the fluid port capped by the manufacturer. The 2000 Jettas (as well as other model years) are notorious for early transmission replacement. Do not expect the VW corp to take care of any transmission issues unless you force them to.

Transmission fluid for vw jetta

Go to volkswagen for the fluid.
I am assuming you are talking about an automatic transmission? if so any aftermarket fluid will make short work of your transmission.

if you are talking about a manual transaxle..then I hear good things about Redlines' MT fluid

2006 Jetta TDI Tiptronic Maintenance

The tiptronic is not the DSG - two separate transmissions. You don't need to service the tiptronic every 40k like you do the DSG.
VW considers the fluid in a Tiptronic tranny as "lifetime" fluid - it doesn't need to be changed.

How or where do I check auto. trans. fluid ? 99 Jetta

the automatic transmission fluid must be checked by a VW dealer. there is no dipstick. the transmission fluid must be moitored b y a scan tool at a certain temp. If the incorrect fluid is added, transmission failure may occur. Recommend a good VW dealer for this issue.

Location of transmission fluid indicator dipstick

Couldn't find mine either. It's not in the owners manual. Actually, I found out that it does not have one. According to VW Vortex, they check the fluid at the dealership by computer.
