Question about Audi Cabriolet

1 Answer

My '08 Cabriolet A4 has less than 40,000 miles and does mostly freeway driving. At about 29,000, 33,500 and 38,500 miles it required adding a quart of oil. What is the problem, remedy and recourse. The dealer says, "This is not unusual. Don't be concerned. Nothing is wrong with the engine." I have never encountered this with BMWs or Mercedes. Is this an Audi problem or an unusual problem with my car that the Dealer does not want to deal with?

You know the dealer doesn't want it

Your using more oil than you should,
but not enough to tear the motor down

Not much you can do if the dealer
has no bulletins or solutions

Is there anything I could add to reduce oil burning in my 2009 Audi A4

A4 always requires adding oil before it is due for an oil change, but only a few hundred miles is excessive. I buy 5 qts when it is on sale. Do you notice any leaks in garage?

P0221 and P0231

the p0221 is not the cat
P0221 Throttle Petal Position Sensor Switch Circuit Range Performance... and neither is the p0231 code
P0231 OBD II Trouble Code you can try reset by disconnecting battery but most likely will come back if not repaired the two codes are fuel management problems and both are circuit have another mechanic check system and problems are is it can stall and not start --not start --or stall wile driving

I have a 1998 Saturn SL2. I want to change the auto trans fluid and filter. Can you give me instructions on changing, fluid and filter and can I drain all the fluid out from the trans pan plug? What do you...

Unless you drive in very dirty conditions where you have a lot of dust of damage to trans. Most highways and freeways are pretty clean. There is no real need to replace filter, so save yourself some money and just drain what ever fluid comes from plug and refill. A good filter should last 100,00 miles.

2003 Audi A4 1.8T Check Engine light on

The CEL means there is a Diagnostic Fault Code stored in the Engine Control Unit. There are 1000's of DTC's, so you will need to have it read by a Code Reader. Auto Parts stores like Auto Zone, Pep Boys, perhaps even Advanced Auto often will read the code for you; but by law they cannot clear the codes. Many codes do not cause drivability problems, severe ones will trigger the ECU to run in a Limp Mode, which would require repair work before any trip longer than a few miles. Hope this is helpful.

Turbo= not working

Most likely the turbo is gone. What ever part of the turbo went, just replace the entire turbo. Not serviceable 99% of the time. The engine will not like being driven for any extended period of time with a bad turbo.

Is a pressure converting element on the block. Can be leak or shot. Or wire harnes problem worst case. If leak you see dripping oil mostly. Had that 2 times on a car.
