Question about Ford F-150

1 Answer

2003 4.6 F150 engine light on code po175 and po405 how do i remedy .

1 Answer

The 405 is EGR Valve related ,so work on that first

The 175 is a Rich O2 Sensor on Bank 2
The would be the drivers side for you

I would replace the front 2 O2 Sensors IF
they have more than 100,000 miles on them
That is when they should be changed

Once the egr works the O2 code will go
away, maybe, unless your about to have the
famous ignition coil experience we all have with
fords once or twice a year.

What should i do about my car engine light is on they check the code and show po175 and po172

It means there is too much fuel in the air/fuel mix going into the engine. You can drive to a repair shop without too much trouble. A lean mix is much more dangerous, but you will use a ton of fuel and not get much power if the mix is too rich.

The real problem is why is the computer putting to much fuel in the mix. Maybe the carburetor is bad, maybe the computer or one of the sensors is shot. Either way, get a good mechanic to figure out what is wrong.

Code po405

You don't let other people work on your vehicles
You seldom if ever wash todays all electronic vehicles
If you do, you spot clean yourself & blow out all electrical
connectors with an air hose if you have issues
Your 300 codes is water down into the valve cover spark plug wells
The 405 is the EGR Valve issue,it failed or they ruined it
Google the codes

Tried getting ford f150 4.2 2003 inspected. Replaced air filter and fuel filter already. Check engine lit was on before replacing them . Now check engine light is out . But won't pass inspection.

As for your codes p1131 and 1151: Ford - Lack Of Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 Switches - Sensor Indicates Lean

Last week I had the very same catalyst, evap and ECG codes come up on my 1999 Mercury Mystique which is like a Ford Taurus. A friend was able to find a hole or leak in the hose connected, replaced it and it runs fine. I havent run it a full and straight 50 miles yet to clear the check engine light but that repair alone changed the entire way the car was poorly driving. Im sure that hasnt fixed all the probs but thats a good starting point.

V6 tracker po172 and po175

The codes are for the O2 sensors telling the computer the fuel mixture is too rich. One code for each side of the engine.
When this happens, the computer tries to turn down the injectors which makes the engine run too lean.
Since you have a code for both sides, I doubt the sensors are faulty. You probably have a real problem with the fuel mixture.
You would need to check fuel pressure and look for fuel leaks into the cylinders.

I have a 2000 Ford Mustang and the engine light came on. Afriend checked it with his code reader and got codes 405, and 455. What does this mean?

PO405 DPF EGR Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Detected
Differential Pressure Feedback--maybe a sensor

PO455 EVAP Control System Leak (No Purge Flow-Large Leak)

The 455 could be leaking hoses, other sensors and
about 12 things in the evap system

I would suggest a repair shop

One the knows what their doing and
has an EVAP Smoke Machine and surely
will need a scanner, unless they shotgun
every job,in that case don't go there

Service Engine soon light is on in my 2003 F150 fx4 any idea's what the problem is.

You can't be sure untill you have a scanner hooked up to read the error code. Some auto parts stores will do this for free.

Check engline light on a 2003 f150 why?

Check engine light comes on when the computer senses a problem with an emissions component. Take youre vehicle to a place like autozone or other parts store that does free obd ii scans. They will give you the codes and tell you what they mean. You can then post them here where we can help you further.
