My 96 grand am is cranking over but not starting

    Using a timing light, do you have spark at the plug wires. Timing light with trigger mashed must flash while cranking.

Put a timing light on one of the cylinder plug wires. mash the trigger and try starting the car. Light must flash.

crank shaft sensor, as soon as car warms up, it will skip (engine stutter(, then when engine cools, so does crank shaft sensor. Good Luck

Hi, try disconnecting the engine crank sensor and if your gauges start working then the crank sensor is faulty.

behind your starter you have a crank sensor replace it and it will start i found out the hard way

Depending on the milage your timing could be out. Check the timing.

96 grand cherokee crank no start, no spark from


have the crank sensor replaced this controls the spark and injector pulse it is located on the drivers back side of the engine above the transmission housing!

96 cherokee was missing/cutting out/dying out.would crank after sitting,now it wont start


the crankshaft position sensor controls spark and if faulty would give the symptons you have described you need to get this checked first
