I changed thermostat on 2005 buick rendevous ultra 3.6l. still have no heat. whats next?


Was lack of heat in the cabin the only reason you changed the thermostat? Were the radiator hoses hot (or very warm) to the touch before you changed the thermostat? Were the heater hoses hot before you changed the thermostat? Did you get a check engine light and code stating that the engine was not getting (or slow getting) to operating temperature?
Getting heat from your heater depends on a blend door actuator letting air flow through the heater core in the HVAC unit. If your radiator hoses are hot, your heater hoses are hot, and you have no trouble code indicating the engine is not getting to operating temperature, but you are not getting heat inside the car, you need to check your blend door actuator or the control unit for the heater.

Very little heat on cold mornings, more heat later in day


When the engine is warm, and running, feel both heater hoses. They should be equally hot if the water valve is open. If they are unequal, then it is a water control problem. If both hoses are hot, the ductwork is not routing the heat under the dash properly.

If you have a temperature gauge in the dash, you would be getting heat if the engine shows normal. A thermostat may be needed if you have no water gauge and you do not know if the engine is hot enough.

I have a 2005 Honda Crv- The problem I am having is the car is starting to get hot. It does not reach the danger zone but it does go from the bottom of the thermostat to the top of the thermostat picture....


definately sounds like a "hung" thermostat , also while you are changing your fluid ,you should purchase an antifreeze tester(cheap) and make sure your antifreeze is correct

1997 Camry 4-cyl fan works but heat very weak - coolant level ok


Probability 1) The thermostat is probably stuck open, coolant is not getting hot enough from the engine to provide heat.

Starting from cold, allow the engine to run and warm up. While doing this, feel the upper radiator hose - you should be able to feel the coolant heating up to the point the hose is uncomfortably hot. If it gets that hot, then go to next step.

Probability 2) The heater core flow is restricted, not allowing full flow of coolant into passenger compartment.

There are 2 smaller heater hoses that run to the firewall. Are either of these hoses getting hot? Both sides hot indicate full coolant flow. Both sides cool indicate heater control valve not opening fully.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada. Engine is running hot, and I have intermittent heat. I've replaced the thermostate last week and now the problem is worse than before. Engine will get up to 260 check gauges light...


CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT.YOUR CLUTCH FAN COULD BE BAD IT CAUSING ENGINE TO OVERHEAT.WHEN ENGINE GET HOT THE SILICONE OIL IN FAN CLUTCH GET HOT CAUSE THERMOSTAT SPRING EXPAND CAUSE FAN CLUTCH TO LOCK IN TURN FAST WITH ENGINE TO COOL OFF ENGINE. IF FAN IS WOBBLY OR FREEWHEELING ITS BAD.

My Toyota Carina 2 heats up to the middle and when i stop the engine it won't start again until it's cooled. I've tried changing the fuel pump but the problem remained the same. please help


the toyota have a heat sensor to the engine it would normaly cut the engine out if it was getting to hot to save the engine from over heating , if the engine is getting abit hot when you turn the engine off and try to start it the sensor picking up the temp and stoping it from starting, you could try a new heat sensor as it could be faulty

the blendor actuators strip out the gear inside the actuator cases on these all the time. replace the actuator.

Over heating


check the coolant level,then run the car and check for leaks.while the engine is heating up,feel the bottom radiator hose and ensure it is getting hot.if not then its likely to be a faulty thermostat.if it is getting hot,remove the coolant cap (not when the engine is hot or you'll get scalded!!) and watch for the water bubbling.if it is then the cylinder head gasket may be blown.hope this helps
