This task delete temporaly the fault codes stored in the PCM, if the codes return, measn that you have some wrong with some sensor and need scannere the PCM (computer) to know exactly what is this fautl code.

Additinally, if your radio wont work and is asking for one "lock code" need to enter this code; generally this is located in the last pages of the owners manual. If you dont have this code or information, need to visit your dealer with the VIN number and ask for this (sometines need to pay for this service).

Hope this helps.

Have new battery will not hold charge and car wont run with car running disconnect

Never disconnect the battery when car is running. I know that used to be the old way to check if alternator was working, but that was before electronics became the norm on vehicles. On today's vehicles, or any with a computer in it, disconnecting the battery with key on, or engine running, there is too great a chance you could fry the delicate electronic circuits that the computer requires. Always turn key off before disconnecting the battery.
Okay, enough soap-boxing. You need a new alternator, if the car won't run with battery disconnected. Next time, use a volt meter.

How do you disconnect battery

Open the trunk. Lift the carpet and the spare tire/battery cover. Loosen the nut and disconnect the NEGATIVE (BLACK) battery cable. If you are removing the battery, you will have to also remove the positive cable and remove the battery hold-down bracket to get the battery out. But ALWAYS disconnect the NEGATIVE cable FIRST and when you put it back together, connect the negative cable LAST.

Safety dicates that the battery be disconnected. ALWAYS negative cable first and negative is last to hook back up, then no sparks...

Draw on battery when car on

First disconnect the battery overnight just to make sure the battery is not self discharging......if it's dead or down in charge while disconnected....time for a new one.
Now.....if the battery is good....disconnect one battery cable and place a 12 volt test light between the cable and the battery post the cable had just been attached to. A bright light means a drain in the car.
Your job is to remove one fuse at a time until the light dims.
A dim light is OK...clock memory etc.
Remember....a open car door is a drain......the dome light.....so keep them closed while pulling fuses.
Also....if the fuses don't show a drain......disconnect ALL wires from the alternator....there could be a drain there.
Just keep disconnecting one thing at a time until the light goes out or dims.
