Question about 1998 Chevrolet C1500
The transmission temperature sensor is part of the transmission range switch it is located on the left side of the transmission case, it is the switch assembly that is mounted right behind the shift lever.
if the sensor is bad it should set a code in the PCM before you replace the switch assembly have the codes checked, auto zone will do this for you at no charge.
it could save you from replacing something that is not the problem.
