Question about 1994 Honda Accord

I am trying to seperate the engine from the transaxle VTEC/Automatic. I am sure that the case to case bolts are all removed, as are the torque converter bolts. I have also removed the rear motor mount. Is there something I am missing?

Have another look their is something somewhere holding it and iam know you have missed something ,what about the metal plate at the bottom that keeps the muck out ?'

  • Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  • Remove the front wheel and tire assemblies.
  • Remove the splash shield.
  • Remove the bolts (2, 3) from the transaxle brace.
  • Remove the transaxle brace (1).

  • Remove the starter.
  • Mark the relationship of the flywheel to the torque converter for reassembly.
  • Use the J 43653, Flywheel Holding Tool, to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.
  • Remove the torque converter to flywheel bolts.
  • Remove the nut holding the transaxle cooler line retainer to the transaxle.
  • Disconnect the transaxle cooler lines from the transaxle.
  • Disconnect the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) wiring harness from the sensor.
  • Remove the steering gear intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
  • Disconnect the tie rods from the steering knuckle.
  • Disconnect the stabilizer shaft links from the stabilizer shaft.
  • Disconnect the ball joints from the steering knuckles.
  • Remove the frame.
  • Disconnect the wheel drive shafts from the transaxle.
  • Support the transaxle with a suitable jack.
  • Remove the lower transaxle to engine bolts (5, 6, 7, 8).

  • Separate the engine and the transaxle.
  • Remove the transaxle from the vehicle.
  • Flush the transaxle cooler and the lines with J 35944-A, Transaxle Oil Cooler Flusher.
  • Remove the following only if replacing the transaxle.
    1. Remove the shift cable bracket bolt (3), nut (1), and bracket (2).
    2. Remove the PNP switch.
    3. Remove the transaxle mounts.

  • To install:
    1. Install the following if previously removed
      1. Install the shift cable bracket (2), bolt (3), and nut (1).
      2. Tighten the bolt (3) and nut (1) to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
    2. Install the PNP switch.
    3. Install the transaxle mounts.
    4. Position the transaxle in the vehicle.
    5. Install the lower transaxle to engine bolts. Tighten the bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (75 Nm).
    6. Install the wheel drive shafts to the transaxle.
    7. Install the frame.
    8. Lubricate the transaxle cooler pipes before inserting into seals.
    9. Connect the transaxle cooler pipes to the transaxle.
    10. Install the transaxle cooler pipes retainer nut. Tighten the nut to 62 inch lbs. (7 Nm).
    11. Use the J 43653, Flywheel Holding Tool, to prevent the crankshaft from rotating.
    12. Install the torque converter to flywheel bolts. Tighten the torque converter bolts to 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm).
    13. Install the starter.
    14. Install the frame.
    15. Install the steering gear intermediate shaft pinch bolt.
    16. Connect the ball joints to the steering knuckles.
    17. Connect the stabilizer shaft links to the stabilizer shaft.
    18. Connect the tie rods to the steering knuckle.
    19. Connect the wiring harness to the VSS.
    20. Install the transaxle brace.
    21. Install the transaxle brace bolts. Tighten the bolts to 39 ft. lbs. (53 Nm).
    22. Install the front splash shields.
    23. Install the front wheel and tire assemblies.
    24. Lower the vehicle.
    25. Install the left transaxle mount.
    26. Install the upper transaxle to engine bolts and stud. Tighten all of the bolts and stud to 55 ft. lbs. (75 Nm).
    27. Untie the radiator, air conditioning condenser, and fan module assembly.
    28. Remove the engine support fixture.
    29. Connect the transaxle wiring harness to the main transaxle electrical connector, and the PNP switch.
    30. Install the shift control cable to the shift control cable bracket. Ensure the cable retaining clip is fully seated.
    31. Connect the shift control cable to the range select lever.
    32. Connect the air duct hose to the intake plenum.
    33. Install the battery tray.
    34. Inspect the transaxle fluid level.
      NOTE
      It is recommended that Transmission Adaptive Pressure (TAP) information be reset. Resetting the TAP values using a scan tool will erase all learned values in all cells. As a result, the ECM, PCM or TCM will need to relearn TAP values. Transaxle performance may be affected as new TAP values are learned.

    2. Drain the engine oil.
    3. Remove or disconnect the following:

      Negative battery cable Structural collar A/C compressor bracket to oil pan bolt Oil pan
    4. Clean the oil pan and all gasket mating surfaces.

    To install:
    1. Install or connect the following:

      Oil pan gasket to the block after applying engine RTV at the oil pump parting line Oil pan. Torque the bolts to 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm). Structural collar Negative battery cable

    1. Clean the oil pan all mating surfaces.
    2. Apply RTV gasket material to the oil pan.
    3. Install or connect the following:

      Oil pan. Tighten the bolts in sequence to 50 inch lbs. (6 Nm). Torque converter dust shield Bending braces Front motor mount bracket Starter motor Negative battery cable
    4. Fill the crankcase to the correct level.
    5. Start the engine, check for leaks and repair if necessary.

    3.3L & 3.8L Engines
    1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    2. Drain the engine oil.
    3. Remove or disconnect the following:

      Negative battery cable Engine oil dipstick Drive belt splash shield Strut to transaxle attaching bolt and loosen the strut to engine attaching bolts Transaxle case cover Oil pan fasteners Oil pan and gasket

    To install:
    1. Clean the oil pan and all mating surfaces.
    2. Apply a 1 / 8 inch bead of gasket material at the parting line of the chain case cover and the real seal retainer.
    3. Install or connect the following:

    I am trying to remove the starting motor from my 1999 mercury cougar 2.5 V6. need some help as to how to go about this


    2.5L Engine

    1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
    2. Remove the engine air cleaner assembly.
    3. Remove the fuel feed and return lines from the support bracket located on the accelerator cable bracket, and remove the fuel line bracket.
    4. On vehicles equipped with a automatic transaxle, remove the gear selector and the gear shift cable bracket from the transaxle.
    5. Remove the air cleaner support bracket from the engine and transaxle mount.
    6. Remove the nuts on the starter terminals and remove the cables from the terminals.
    7. Remove the starter motor-to-transaxle case retaining bolt at the rear of the starter.
    8. Remove the two starter retaining bolts and carefully lift the starter from the transaxle case while disengaging the alignment pins.

    To install:
    1. Position the starter onto the alignment pins and onto the transaxle case.
    2. Install the two starter retaining bolts and the rear retaining bolt and tighten them to 15-21 ft. lbs. (21-29 Nm).
    3. Place the starter cables onto the terminals and tighten the retaining nuts to 80-124 inch lbs. (5-7 Nm).
    4. Install the air cleaner support bracket.
    5. If removed, install the gear shift selector and bracket.
    6. Install the fuel line bracket and install the fuel lines in the bracket.
    7. Install the air cleaner assembly.
    8. Connect the negative battery cable.

    no, this is one of those situations where you either have the parts to splice it back together or you need to replace the whole line. . Its a dealer part unless you can remove it and go to a autoparts house and match it up.

    Automatic Transaxle Assembly REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
    1. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Detach the wire connector at the Mass Air Flow sensor.
    2. If equipped, remove the cross brace to strut towers, as follows:
      1. Loosen the bar assembly through-bolts.
      2. Remove the inboard strut nuts.
      3. Remove the brace assembly.
      4. Reinstall the inboard strut nuts.
    3. Remove the air intake duct.
    4. Disconnect the cruise control cable from the throttle body.
    5. Remove the shift control linkage from the mounting bracket at the transaxle and the lever at the manual shaft.
    6. Label and detach the connectors from the following:
      1. Park/neutral/backup lamp switch.
      2. Transaxle electrical connector.
      3. Vehicle speed sensor and fuel pipe retainers.
    7. Remove the fuel pipe retainers.
    8. Disconnect the vacuum modulator hose from the modulator. WARNING
      You must support or remove the engine. If the engine is not support you may damage the engine, transaxle, halfshafts or many other components.
    9. Remove the three top transaxle-to-engine block bolts and install a suitable engine support fixture. Load the support fixture by tightening the wingnuts several turns in order to relieve the tension on the frame and the mounts.
    10. Turn the steering wheel to the full left position.
    11. Raise and safely support the vehicle. Remove both front tire and wheel assemblies.
    12. Drain the automatic transaxle fluid into a suitable container.
    13. Remove the right and left front ball joint nuts, then separate both control arms from the steering knuckle.
    14. Remove the right halfshaft from the transaxle only. Do not remove the halfshaft from the hub/bearing assembly. NOTE: Carefully guide the output shaft past the lip seal. Do not allow the halfshaft splines to contact any portion of the lip seal.
    15. Remove the left halfshaft from the transaxle and hub/knuckle assembly. Be careful not to damage the pan.
    16. Support the transaxle with a suitable stand.
    17. Remove the bolts at the transaxle and the nuts at the cradle member. Remove the left front transaxle mount.
    18. Remove the right front mount-to-cradle nuts. Remove the left rear transaxle mount-to-transaxle bolts.
    19. Remove the torque strut bracket from the transaxle.
    20. Remove the right transaxle mount-to-transaxle bolts.
    21. Remove the left rear transaxle mount. Remove the transaxle brace from the engine bracket.
    22. Remove the stabilizer shaft link-to-control arm bolt. NOTE: Be sure to matchmark the flywheel-to-converter relationship for proper alignment upon reassembly.
    23. Unfasten the flywheel cover bolts, then remove the cover. Matchmark the flywheel-to-torque converter installed position, then remove the flywheel-to-converter bolts.
    24. Remove the bolts attaching the rear frame member to the front frame.
    25. Remove the front left cradle-to-body bolt and the front cradle dog leg-to-right cradle member bolts.
    26. Remove the frame/cradle assembly by swinging it aside and supporting it with a jackstand.
    27. Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the transaxle, then plug the lines to avoid contamination.
    28. NOTE: One bolt located between the transaxle and the engine block is installed in the opposite direction.
    29. Remove the remaining lower transaxle-to-engine bolts and lower the transaxle from the vehicle. Be careful when removing the transaxle to avoid damaging the right-hand output shaft, shaft seal, hoses, lines and wiring.

    no, Because the transmission is underneath your motor. now if you were changing your transmission you would have to pull out the motor then hoist the transmission out.

    its transaxle on the FWD car a Toyota Corolla. it is..
    so books on Corolla cover this too, and vastly more easy to find

    1BATTERY DISCON.
    2 On some models it may be necessary to remove the level gauge and reservoir tank.
    A clamp on the side of the stick retains the unit in the tube
    1. Disconnect the neutral start switch. Disconnect the speedometer cable or speed sensor.
    2. Disconnect the shift control cable and throttle cable (at engine compartment).
    3. Disconnect the oil cooler hose. Plug the end of the hose to prevent leakage.
    4. Drain the radiator and remove the water inlet pipe if so equipped.
    5. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Drain the transaxle fluid. As required remove the exhaust front pipe.
    6. Remove the engine undercover. Remove the front and rear transaxle mounts.
    7. Support the engine and transaxle using the proper equipment. Remove the engine center and lower crossmember.
    8. On some models it may be necessary to remove the front exhaust pipe.
    9. Remove the halfshafts. Remove the starter assembly. Remove the filler pipe.
    10. Remove the flywheel cover plate. Remove the torque converter bolts.
    11. Remove the left engine mount. Remove the transaxle-to-engine bolts. Slowly back the transaxle away from the engine. Lower the assembly to the floor.
