On me Honda Civic 2006 hybrid 12 v battery do not charging.

The alternator is what keeps your battery fully charged. How old is the battery? If is within the time it’s supposed to last and it is defective, then take it to the place you purchased it and they should prorate the cost of a new one. Also check to see that your alternator is working, that it is charging the battery as you run the engine. If it has stopped working then you need to replace it. The cost could be from 75-175 dollars depending on the quality and warranty you choose. I recently changed mine on my GMC truck, cost $98 and took only 30 minutes to change out.

My altanater keeps burning out why

Have your battery load tested. As with everything, parts are made cheaper and don't hold up. Alternators are not made to charge at a high load continuously. Alternators are made to charge high and taper to a trickle charge.

If you added more lights, snowplow motor, or any extra Electric stuff, you could easily overload Factory equipment. Check out the internet for high capacity Alternators

One silent demand part is your rear window defroster. It is suppose to be on a timer. It can stress your Alternator if it is stuck in the ON position.

Toyota starlet alternator charge relay

I am having similar problems with my 1983 fuel injected starlet. I have burnt through a replacement alternator, and bought a new battery(not to mention tons of other mechanical work trying to restore the car). The pros are telling me it could be the charge light relay, which is hard to find, but if the plug on the alternator with the "L" marking for light is supposed to have less than 12 volts running through it, while the other two prongs are supposed to have full charge. On my car the "L" charge light prong has no voltage going to it, while tho others are at 12 volts. I did the testing with a FULLY CHARGED battery, an undercharged battery can also short out the alternator, I am told. Trying to learn what to do, still no luck I am afraid to install the new alternator and it tested good.

2002 ford winstar will not start clicking, get a job it starts but once you start driving it shuts off

Your alternator is probably bad. When you jump it , it puts a charge in the battery. The van will run until the charge is gone. This is what the alternator is supposed to do, keep the charge in the battery and run the engine.

The speedometer in my 1999 Ford Expedition keeps bouncing I was told it was bouncing around because I got a new battery and my altenator was not properly charging it. . .is that true?

I never heard this, but it may be a bad speedometer sensor(which is located on the transmission). If the alternator is not charging, try this. Turn on your truck and while it's running remove the ground battery cable, if it dies on you, then you need a new alternator, if not then your alternator is working like it's suppose to.

The battery in my 2006 Liberty keeps dying. I had a new one put installed in May 2010 and now in November 2010 the battery is dead again.

Have the system checked for more than .2 Amps draw in which case there is a short somewhere.

Also, check that the alternator is charging the battery by putting it on a starting/charging machine at Sears or Walmart or the parts store in your area (e.g. Autozone or Advance Auto Parts).

Good luck on this repair.

Battery light, charge/discharge, comes on and stays on. Had the alternator checked and installed a new battery.

There is a diode inside the alternator that controls the charge light. It is possible for this diode to go bad even thought the alternator is charging like it is supposed to. Only way to really tell is to replace alternator.
Hope this helps

depending on how new your truck is you may not be able to disconect the battery and keep it running there are just so many electrical things in cars now adays that the altnator alone just cant keep up with every thing at idle you may want to go to a local scrap yard and get a whole dash cluster or check all your fuses again first

Alternator runs hot when battery is connected

when you start the car you need to see if the alternator charge its supposed to 13,7 to 14.5 max it supposed to stay like that but the way our taking its probably charge ok when its cold and when the car get warm the charging goes down in the back of alternator our supposed to have the same voltage as the battery if not check the big wire in the back for corrosion if our not sure the wondition insted of opening the wire harness bring direct power from the positive side of battery to the big wire in the back of alternator and from the negative side connect to the metal of alternator after that if its still get to hot change the alternator if you think my solution is intelligent please rate it thats the way i would check our caqr in my shop thanks pierre

1979 Ford Thunderbird alternator not charging

Are the connections really dirty at the voltage regulator? These tend to get corrosion on them and cause weird charging system issues. Also make sure the ground is good on the regulator.
