Sometimes that little metal flap that was covering the hole where you put the gas can break and fall in. causes a blockage. Another thing, i used to have a Buick Regal that i had to hold the gas nozzle hard to one side and pump really slowly to get gas in. If all else fails, get a 5 gallon plastic gas can, fill that up, then poor it down your car gas tank. Alot of work, but its cheap.

Sounds like the vent for the tank may be defective. The vent is on top of the gas tank between the tank and the floor of the trunk.
Or there is a blockage in the fill pipe for the tank below the connector hose.
You may have to have someone remove the tank and inspect it.

2004avalanche wont take gas

I'm assuming that you mean it is very difficult to fill the gas tank at some gas stations. It often seems like it "kicks" if you look at it cross eyed. It's irritating, and some gas stations seem worse than others.

The filler neck takes a sharp bend right by the opening, and reduces dramatically in diameter. Some pumps push out at higher volumes, and other pumps are more sensitive to the back-pressure, causing it to "kick" prematurely. The solution I found was to rotate the nozzle in the tank opening. If you turn it so the handle is at the 5 o'clock position it will sometimes work. Occasionally I've had to hold the nozzle upside down. Or just avoid that station.

I need to determine if exsisting in tank fuel pump is good. I have the tanked dropped and fuel pump out. My question is how can I tell if the old pump is still good? My blazer would run before, I thought I...

Ground the motor (electrically) to the frame of your Blazer the apply some 12v power (or 13v) to see if 'she' hums or pumps for that matter. (Some will hum but not pump a thing of course). I'm guessing you have an older K-5 or something. There's a filter between the fuel line and carb if nobody ever showed you that one (on the older ones with 350's 4bbl's anyway).

well its eighter the wiring god mixed up, you installed the sending unit upside down or the unit got corrosion from the outside air.I'm leaning on the unit needs to change sine you sound fully capable of NOT making the first to errors. Year replace the unit.

When getting gas pump clicks off

The gas is shutting off because the air is not release out of the gas tank, the air is forced out when gas is going in and this flow goes through vent valve, this valve is located near the fuel tank and the valve may be stuck closed or the hose is blocked. the most common problem is due to spider webs inside the vent hose, the hose will need to be cleaned out to allow the flow of air, i would think the check engine light would be on due to this problem, but if not it will come on if this is not fixxed. let me see if i can get a diagram to help you locate the vent valve and the hose that leads off of it.good day,

hi this is the fuel vent line, or breather hose from the tank, you need to locate this under your vehicle should be roughly half way down the filler, or in some cases on top of the fuel tank, it is possible it is blocked with road dirt as they normally do..just a tip for you when you access the hose, extend the hose so it does not fill with dirt and you should be ok...hope this helps please rate thanks

check the vent hose from evap system from fuel tank, the most coomon problem is a sipers web, that blocks vent hose so air and vapors can not be released causing pump to shut off all the time, good luck.

Your the 9 this week with this type of problem and most of the time its due to the fueltank breather pipe is blocked or kinked and not letting air into the tank so you can only take out a little and then it wont
pump out an more owing to to much vacuum in tank stop for 3 to 5 minutes and you go further leave filler cap loose when filling and shut the door and see if its ok and no more stopping try it and let me know

Ford Windstar 2001 Gas filling problem

The fule tank vent tube is blocked/clogged. It's the little hole next to the filler hose that invites spiders that clog it up. Blow out the tube and it fixes the problem.
