Consider a higher octane gas to see if the problem is cured. Many people are having success with cheap HHO kits (do a google search). The hydrogen allows normal 87 octane to hit a peak rating of 120+ octane. I personally use this on my car and have gain 60% mpg (not typical) along with a much smoother and responsive engine.

Good luck.

My Hyundai Getz is pinging at a 3700 revs seems fine otherwise. Anyone know what it could be? Oil is fine and just had the power steering belt changed.

Bad gasoline or running an octane rating that is not meant for your engine will cause pinging. Out of time engines will ping too.

05 cobalt manual oil pumped clogged up, engine almost ran dry. replaced oil and filter and few days later engine started pinging. kinda moderate when idling then very rapid while driving. Wanna do the

pinging is from spontaneous combustion ( detonation) and is from incorrect air /fuel ration and ignition timing. Run fault codes and check knock sensor and MAF/MAP/VAF sensors . Left un- checked it will melt holes in the pistons.

Can an 2005 acura run safely on regular gas

The only reason to run higher octane fuels to to reduce the chance of (engine ping) or (engine knock).Try the regular gas(dont completely fill car) and take notice under hard acceleration if engine makes a pinging noise. If pinging happens then add some high octane gas to compensate for regular.Unless this is a modified engine the regular gas will not do any damage it will result in pinging and loss of fuel milelage.

Pinging noise from the the engine

Pinging is a sign of low octane fuel in the tank or the engine may have jumped time if the vehicle has high mileage, I believe the Lincoln has a timing chain rather then a timing belt, the chain is much stronger and lasts at least double to triple the amount of mileage a belt lasts.
Have a shop run a timing strobe on the crank to see where your timing marks are in respect to the factory requirements, if the car is timed properly and there isn't anything wrong with the gas in the tank(try adding an octane booster to see if that helps allieviate the ping) then test the computer system for any possible codes, perhaps the 02 sensor is bad or the I.A.C.(Idle Air Control Motor) is defective causing the engine to run too lean and ping, a code stored in the computers memory will reveal this.

94 Buick Regal 3.8. Pings under load. All

Remove and inspect the spark plugs for heavy deposits or glazed-looking interior insulators. Make sure the plugs are the proper type for this engine. Heavy carbon build-up in the cylinder heads will cause pinging. If the ignition system is too advanced, it will also cause problems. Try a different brand of fuel. High engine temperatures can do the same (caused by poor cooling system or lean fuel/air mixture). If the check engine light is on, take the car to Autozone or a similar business that offers a free scan of the computer. This may provide additional clues. Hope some of this helps!

Check engine light comes on a engine pings will do this for a while and it turns off and no engine ping than will do ti again

Pinging generally is caused by failure of the knock sensor. Have a code check done and likely it will show that code. If so, replace the sensor. You can have code tests done free at most larger parts stores.

Service engine light on. Ping sound.

THE VERY 1ST THING U NEED TO DO IS FIND OUT WHAT TROUBLE CODE WAS STORED WHEN THE CHECK ENG LIGHT CAME ON, THAT WILL BE THE KEY TO THE PING ISSUE.
