If you know how to remove the headlight assembly, this is what you need to do first.

Make sure all dust covers are in place on the back of the head light assembly and all drainage tubes are facing down towards the ground.

Go to the auto parts store and buy clear silicone RTV caulk.

Then seal any cracks on the back of the light housing, and make sure to fill the connection between the clear lens and the rest of the housing. Normally there is a gasket in there but odds are yours is bad or corroded.

Take a quick peek at this video. It does not directly apply to your make or model or even your problem, but it does clearly give you an idea of what I am talking about.

Money back? I gave you that info for free... I didn't get paid. Go to the local junk yard and buy a new headlight and swap it in or buy one off of ebay. Headlight leaks are tough to solve. I was trying to give you some advise but realistically you need to replace it.

Sounds like a loose or worn belt that is rubbing on the pully. Pull on the belt and if you can move it more than 1/2 an inch out from the line between the two pulleys, you need to tighten it. If the belt is old, you can try adding some belt dressing but that is a temporary fix.

1997 XK8 Transmission Failure. Will 2001 XK8 transmission work

I had a similar problem with my 1997 XK8. Apparently the transmission will not last much more than 100,000 miles. You need to replace the clutch in the transmission - cost between $2,500 and $4,000.

this is an electrical part and most probably needs to be replaced , but if it does not go into the lock it self ( Lock is closed while boot is open ) , you need to open manually with a screw driver and then close your boot

What is stability control? light came on

Hi

Sounds like usual gremlins kicked in to your computer, with the flat battery.

Disconnect both terminals of the battery, switch on the ignition to start position 6 times, to clear the computer memory.

Reconnect Positive terminal + then Negative --- and start engine, and check it out.

I am pretty sure it will not come back on.

Also I suggest you get the battery tested soon as possible.

( Is it the original battery ?) If so, its shot !

Good Luck !

Please give me a FixYa rating please !

Let me know how you get on .

John.

1997 Jaguar

If this is a 1997 2 door XK8 then it is your main switch thats bad, if it is a 4 door sedan and your light and signals don't work then you need to start with the fuses.
Goto the engine bay and on the passenger side there is a long black box, inside there is your fuse identification chart.
Fuse boxes are in engine bay, trunk next to battery and under the rear seats, where your heals go, do not have to remove seats (2 inspection panels)
