Question about 1992 Buick Park Avenue

1 Answer

1992 Buick park avenue.Just bought the car,and found that someone had wired a aftermarket radio.wired it to the cigerete lighter(hot wire). When i drove it home everything was working fine.A day later the AC dual climate control stop working and the interior lights as well.found out the hot wire for the radio shorted out and melted some wires, manly the wires to the ac control unit.i guess that's what its called where you turn it on and off.replaced all bad wires.everything is working now.but the ac compreesor clutch wont come on.you can jump wire it and it will work, and i noticed that the pcm box and another box next to it if they are not grounded to each other the blower motor runs with the ac off,,and the pcm box is grounded,Any help would be great. Thanks

Can I take the factory radio out of my 1997 buick park avenue and put in an aftermarket?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You sure can. The wires may need adjusted in the back and you might have to account for extra room, but yes you can make that switch.

My grandpa has a 1992 Buick Park Avenue. The cigarette lighter on the dashboard does not work, but all of the other ones do. It is the hole part that is the problem because the plug works in the other...

Cigarette lighters wear out from use. On the front of the hole where the lighter goes there is a retaining ring that is threaded onto the lighter socket. Unscrew the ring and the lighter socket can be removed from the dash. Disconnect the wire from the back of the socket and replace the lighter assembly with a new one, Don't forget to plug the wire up to the back of the new one.

Cigarette lighters don't work on Buick 1992 Park Avenue

More than likely, it is close to the back of the lighter though it may be in the fuse box. It might be a sign for you that it is time to quit.

Since you know where the fuse box is but cannot id which fuse protects this circuit, I suggest you remove the fuses one at a time until you discover which, if any, fuse if burnt. A pair of needle nose pliers will make this job easy for you.

Power at ip fuse ,fuel pump relay gray wire only

with the key on there should be power (12 volts) to 2 terminals, you need to cycle the key to sense the power, it only stays on 5 seconds, have someone turn the key on and off while u check..

Transmissions

Depends on what engine is in each of the vehicles. Assuming that the 1992 Park Avenue and 1995 Buick Century both had similiar engines (both being a V6), then they would both be equiped with the 4T60E transmission and you should have no problems interchanging them. Any differences (if any) in the wiring or valvebodies can easily be changed from one to the other and will be fairly self-explanatory.

Hope this helps and good luck!
