Question about Isuzu Pickup

1 Answer

Hi there! can u help me regarding my 2nd owned isuzu hilander with 4ja1 engine. this pertains to the oil dipstick lever because during the course i drove the vehicle in long drive specially during hot and humid day i notice a white smoke coming out from it and there are times that the oil dipstick lever itself puffed up which i believe due to the air pressure from the engine. is my engine blowbay already?? and what particulars in my engined parts need/s repair? tnx and god bless!

YOU ARE GETTING A LOT OF BLOW BY GASES FROM WORN PISTON RINGS.WHICH CAUSE BLOW BY GASES ESCAPE BY COMPRESSION RINGS INTO CRANKCASE BLOW OUT DIP STICK.

tnx hotchevy! so what must i do? do i have to replaced the worn piston rings with an oversized one? just to coup the gap? or do i have to consider the replacement of the sleeves already?

  • Jonah Oneal May 27, 2011

IF ENGINE HAS MANY MILES.YOU HAVE TO CHECK PISTON CYLINDER TAPER. IF YOU USE SAME PISTONS. YOU HAVE TO CHECK RING GAP.PUT IN NEW COMPRESSION RINGS AND OIL CONTROL RINGS.CYLINDER BORE HAS TO BE RECONDITION. MAKE SURE ROD BEARINGS AND CRANK SHAFT BEARINGS OKAY.IF YOU REBUILD TOP OF ENGINE AND BOTTOM END HAS ANY FAULTS IT WILL SOON FAIL DO A COMPRESSION TEST ON ENGINE BEFORE SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY ON REBUILDING.

a million tnx hotch! u give me peace of mind, now i know what first step to take
    ;-) god bless...

  • Jonah Oneal May 28, 2011

MEANT TO TELL YOU CHECK YOUR PCV VALVE.MAKE SURE ITS WORKING BECAUSE IF PCV VALVE NOT WORKING YOU WILL EXCESS CRANK CASE BLOWBY GASES.

  • bokawil May 28, 2011

where is the pcv valve? is it the same as the valve in the cylinder head of the common gas engine?

  • Jonah Oneal May 28, 2011

YEP PCV VALVE BE LOCATED ON THE VALVE COVER.

  • bokawil May 28, 2011

okay! tnx a lot hotch i'll do what u hv told me. its very informative.. ;-)

What's your question?my Isuzu 4ja1 engine .my problem is the oil comes from deep stick

i think you mean
when running the engine
the DIP STICK seal as it fits the dip stick tube end. leaks oil
this a bad PCV valve.
excess crank case pressures.... cause by not doing service on car.
or worse a very worn out engine with huge blow by gassed.
is engine miles high? over 300k? miles?
or the dips stick seal there is bad.... looking at it tells you that.

Newly overhaul isuzu 4ja1 but oil comes out from positive crankcase ventilation

im having the same experience with my isuzu rodeo 1990 4ja1. i overhauled it last december, spent almost 1500dollars on the overhaul kit and again 300 for paying the guy. The engine was running very good and brand new for 2 days only when i suddenly noticed a big drop in engine power while driving. There's oil coming out of the head breather tube and pushing it into the intake manifold. And now much worse oil coming out of my dipstick and my front and rear crank seal also. Can someone please tell me what the problem and best solution is because my car has not even driven for a year with the new overhaul kit and im having the same problems again. This issue is really driving me crazy.

How to install rear crankshaft oil seal 4ja1 engine

the word HOW , means, (and install) does that mean its out now.?
or is the question , how to get to it and replace it?
all steps, every single step or just where is it.?
is this your first seal job ever. or first engine internal work ever?

1994 isuzu rodeo here, has no such engine. (USA) 4Ja1 diesel. My guess i you posted to wrong car because
Fixya does list your car, because we dont have your car.

so i cant look it up for you. try saying your country and real name of car... (a D-MAX is Asia?_) what?
buy the factory book, on the unstated car? or truck>?

is the engine in or out of car?
is the transmission in or out of car.?
we can't guess any of this.
nor tools at hand, like engine lift's etc.

you bought a :
the factory seal?
or the after market nice double lip seal.
and do you plan to use the correct tool shown in the shop manual
or make your own. or pound it in with a hammer....(ouch)

below is ,cut from free FSM book, see the red arrow.
that is the rear crank seal. 4ja1 and jb1
as you can see its behind the flywheel (or flexplate atcmb)
The year is important is it really 1994?
so engine out, or trans out. (you pick)
then replace it,
one way to learn is to read TIMKEN bearing white papers
on how do it right, and the 25 ways wrong. all in one sitting.

Timing marks for 2.5 isuzu diesel pumo

Freek Rohrbeck wants answers to this question
are so lazy you cant start your own post?
1: no country stated.
2: no year (1990?)
3: no engine, (freeks engine) not ANON. 2.5 Diesel.?
4: we dont have PUMO in usa, so where are you?
5: timing a cam, or timing a fuel pump, how can we guess that?

ahhhhhh PUMO is PUMP ????? wow. prefect place for a typo..

its no USA "pickup" at all.
2.5 L 4JA1-T
is this your true engine name
if yes, google it and find free facts (or endless lies)
there is turbo , non turbo and twin turbo, on newer cars)

here we can google all day

I HAVE A ISUZU 4JA1 ENGINE WHEN IT IS RUNNING ON LONG RUNS THE OIL COMES OUT FROM THE DIP STICK WHAT WOULD BE THE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE

If you are NOT overfilling the oil then it's a clogged oil pump. Drop the oil pan (have a new gasket set ready), pull the pump and strainer and clean with solvent (acetone), and re-install.
