You wet the inside of the distributor and water is in the spark plug boot area you can remove the boot and let the water dry out , but dont remove the sparkplug all the way unless you know the firing order a good air dry will put you back on the road,(leave the inside of the distributor alone for now)

2014 1300 tour deluxe wont start

If its been anywhere near flood / salt water then there will be corrosion of the electrical wiring , joints and components. I'm amazed it fired up at all, which shows it wasn't immersed.. Only a thorough check of the harness and connections will be needed.

I pressure washed the motor while car was running, then used an air nozzle to blow off the rest of the water around important electrical parts, then parked it and about two hours later went to star it and...

you may have cracked the distributor cap... Hot engine plus water can put a hairline crack in the cap. the crack will allow moisture to build up inside and allow the spark to jump causing the car to not crank at all in most cases.

try removing the cap and check for any moisture what so ever and then wipe clean with a clean dry cloth replace the cap and try to crank the car again... if it starts you will still need to replace the cap just because the crack will allow more moisture in every time humidity is high.

don't mix up your spark plug wires remember your firing order is 1-3-4-2

washing the engine will hot at all especially while running is never a good idea... next time wash it first thing in the morning and still don't drive it for at least 4 to 5 hours or untill all the water is compleately dried up.

Suspect your crank sensor signal may be weak. Here are some tests you can run with an ohmmeter:

CYLINDER IDENTIFYING SENDER

Testing
M20, M30, S14 & S38 ENGINES
See Figure 9:

0900c1528004a16a-nx20irngy4ugyvyt2uth3oj4-5-0.gif
Fig. Fig. 9: Cylinder identifying and engine speed sensor pinouts
The cylinder identifying sender is mounted on the ignition lead for cylinder 6 on the M20, M30 and S38 engines. The sender on the S14 engine is mounted in the bellhousing flange and connects to a gray colored plug mounted in the center of a group of 3 plugs on the engine compartment rear wall, next to the engine harness connector and diagnosis socket.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.Trace the sensor lead back to the connector and disconnect. The S38 engine might require the fan and shroud be removed and the water pipe be moved out of the way to access the plug.Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2. The resistance should be 0.2-1.0 ohms. M42 & M50 ENGINES

0900c1528004a16b-nx20irngy4ugyvyt2uth3oj4-5-2.gif

Fig. 10: The upper connector is for the cylinder identifying sender and the lower is for the speed sensor (DME)-M42 engine shown, M50 has similar arrangement
The cylinder identifying sender, or camshaft sender as it is sometimes called, is located on the timing cover. The connector is located below the intake manifold, towards the front of the engine.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.Trace the sensor lead back to the connector and disconnect.Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2. The resistance should be 1.15-1.41 kilo-ohms.

ENGINE SPEED SENSOR Testing
See Figures 9 and 10
The engine speed sensor provides the DME unit with engine speed information. The sensor reads the information from a tooth wheel mounted on the crankshaft hub except on the S14 engine. It can also be called the crankshaft sensor.
The S14 engines speed sensor is mounted next to the cylinder identifying sensor and is removed in the same manner as the cylinder identifying sensor. The sensor on the S14 engine connects to a plug mounted in a group of 3 plugs on the engine compartment rear wall, next to the engine harness connector and diagnosis socket. It is the connector on the right side.
Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.Trace the sensor lead back to the connector and disconnect.Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2. The resistance should be 490-590 ohms.

Hi justin, sounds like you have a headgasket problem are you going through any water? If not you may have a leaking fuel injector or faullty fuel pressure regulator. you either have fuel or water leaking into a cylinder causing it to miss fire on first start up.

You will have dry all ignition components ... You have a distributor that you can open? Get a drying agent from your auto parts store (spray can) and spray all high voltage wires. Next sunny day, roll the Vette into the sun and leave the hood open all day.

There are various fault code that the engine light represents. Get the computer scanned and see what exactly the problem is. It may be a miss fire, or it could also be something else. You said that you just put gas in it...double check the gas cap. Take it off and put it back on. If it is loose, that will set off an emissions code. Hope this helpls.
