Question about Chrysler Cirrus

1 Answer

My 99 cirrus has an issue with the horn. It blows when you make turns. Not all the time but it just starts and then stops when you straighten the wheel.

Mine was doing the same thing, it was the screws that attach the horn plate, there are plastic (white in color) that act as spacers and insulators (prevents the horn from grounding) also on the screws that fastens the horn plate (under the head of the screw) is suppose to be a cardboard washer, I put plastic washers in and it was fixed, you have to remove the air bag from the steering wheel to view the area

My chrysler cirrus wont stop blowing unless I oull the fuse ..I am scared to teplace the sterring wheel.but I dont have income to brinh it in and I need a sticker

Oh, the HORN? They probably won't issue you an inspection sticker if the horn isn't working correctly, but...
...you can locate the horn (find where the sound is coming out) under the hood. It should have one wire connecting to it with a small plug. If you unplug that wire, it'll stop making noise.

You may be able to fix the problem by replacing the steering wheel center pad, but it MAY have an airbag in it. If it does, there's a risk that you'll trigger the airbag, so please have someone HANDY do that job for you.

the switch in the steering column is the most likely culprit not a quick fix since there is an airbag involved might get pricy

When driving, my horn on my 1999 Chrysler Cirrus blows randomly and will not stop until I hit repeatedly in the center of steering wheel. What can I do that is cheap and quick to stop this?

I have or should say had same issue on 1996 cirrus quick fix just remove the HORN RELAY located on the left side of dash relay only controls horn. To really solve the issue at hand you must replace the clock spring on the steering wheel dis-arm air bag before messing with steering wheel to avoid activation of air bag disconnect battery for 10 min then its safe to fiddle with steering wheel safely.

Horn blows when steering wheel is turned. Is is a short?

this is caused by a defective/shorted rotating ribbon contact under the steering wheel called a clock spring, to replace this part u must disarm the airbag remove it and the steering wheel and then replace the clock spring, this is a dealer only part.
