There's a couple of things you can check right off the bat if you're sure the fuse hasn't blown.

  • The first thing I would check is the window lock switch. Most cars have a window lock switch near the driver's master controls for all the windows. This switch can accidentally get turned on, locking all the windows from operating.
  • It that's not it, have all the windows stopped working or is it just one window? If it's all of the windows that have stopped working, chances are, not all of the motors have failed at the same time. That would mean that it's most likely the driver's master window switch that has failed.

Testimonial: "I tried the window lock 1st thinking this may have being put on but wasnt this. To start it was just the passengers window that stop then the drivers we never tried the rear passenger windows untill the drivers stopped working and noticed these werent working either. So indications are pointing to the master switch which has failed like you said"

How do I Check for a bad fuse when my window stops working on my 2003gmcsierra1500

To check fuses, use a digital meter. Touch the suspect fuses with the leads to learn if there is power flowing through. I have not worked on your exact vehicle but most fuses now have a small access port so you can test the fuse without removing it. There may also be a relay under the hood that controls the power windows It should be clearly marked so you can find it. Some auto parts stores can test those for you without cost, They want your business.

Why won't the passenger side window roll up?

its electric windows right.
1: blown fuse.
2: controls bad. to motor
3: bad motor
4: jammed window guide, overloading motor

do you want to guess, or test.
if test, then any voltmeter sold finds this easy, even a 10 buck meter at walfart.

Can't roll done rear electric windows

If both windows stopped working at the same time then you should check your fuse box to make sure you don't have a blown fuse.

Electric windows in mercedes vito stopped working

Fuse has blown out. Check the fuse box under the steering wheel. The plastic cover has the diagram on the back, to see which fuse is for the electric windows.

The electric window in my ford fairmont stopped working...

Ford vehiclesuse electric motors to turn the window regulator in models equippedwith power windows. These motors can wear out, the fuses can blow, orother electrical problems could occur that can prevent the window frommoving properly. you may try to diagnose the power window problem. Use this steps:

1. Check the fuses for burned out filaments by pulling the appropriate fuseand viewing it. Most Fords will have transparent fuses, and the filament can bechecked with a bright light or in sunlight. Many Fords come with a fuse pullerlocated in the interior fuse block cover. This small puller is a simple pair ofclips that grab the edges of a blade-style fuse. There may be a secondary fuseblock under the hood on the driver's side wheel well. It has larger blade fusesfor protecting the computerand subsystems from damage. Replace any blown fuses and check the window'soperation.
2.Test the window operation in relation to the other windows in the vehicle. If only one window is inoperablebut the others work, the problem could be a switch or a failing or bad electricmotor. Switch replacement is fairly easy in most Fords as they simply pop outof the door panel openings with slight pressure from a screwdriver. Unplug theswitch assembly, replace it with a new unit and press it back into the doorpanel. Test the window for operation.
3.Check the window glass for excessive play or signs of a "slippedtrack." The glass is secured by the window regulator that can failmechanically and cause the glass to become stuck. Repair this by removing thedoor panel (turn the armrest bolts and door handle screws counterclockwise, then disengage the pop rivets) and removing the motor by unplugging it alongwith the mount bolts. Replace the entire window regulator if the hinges andinternals cannot be repaired. Replace the motor by pressing it into the windowregulator gears, then securing the mount bolts and reconnecting it to theharness. Replace the door panel and switches, then test the window.

4. Check for operation of the window with the engine on and off, and with thekey in different positions.

Electric windows dont work. they are intermittent at best both are up now and I am afraid to use them for fear once down ill never get them back up. When I use the switch now nothing happens

there is a fuse panel under the dash on driverside unlatch and pull down. test the fuses with a test light to find the blown fuse there. then look under the hood in power control box. lift the lid and look inside lid for the relay. there again u need a light tester to check all fuses that are blown. if none are found then the relay is bad. also u may have windows that are binding if so it will put strain on window motors and cause this problem again.

My rear left window will not work in my 2001 civic lx where can I locate the fuses to solve this issue?

a defective or blown fuse would cause all the windows to stop working, so that is not te problem, most likely the electric motor that moves the window is defective inside the door.

Power windows not working what can I do. Thanks

As an owner of Jeep Cherokees both older and newer than your model, the following is only a guess.
For the older units, the fuel block is located under the left side of the instrument panel. Mid 90s units had the fuse block located in the right side kick panel, behind a cover. Late 90s had the fuse block located in the right end of the instrument panel under a cover.
A blown fuse is easy to identify through the clear plastic body. Also, the fuses can be checked with a test light. If replacement is necessary, BE SURE TO REPLACE WITH THE SAME AMPERAGE (i.e. use the same color as the blown fuse for a replacement).
Repairing an electric window often requires specialized tools. However, you can check the fuse(s) as you suggested (there may be one for all windows or separate fuses for each door motor), the actuating switches for broken/loose wires, and you can remove the door panel(s) to check the motor wires to see if they are loose or damaged.
Check to see if the affected window fails to respond to only the switch on the driver's door or the switch on the affected door itself. This may help narrow down the search
Just some general ideas which may be helpful.
