Question about Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

It wont shift down and when i come to a stop it stalls. I replaced the transmition lines and that didnt work

Does the transmission have TCC (torque converter clutch)? If so, then disconnect the square four wire connector on the side of the transmission and test drive. If the problem goes away, then the TCC solenoid is bad and must be replaced.

    I have a 2005 SLT Yukon. Since this morning my transmission would not shift to 3 and 4. I get a msg stating HOT TRANSMISSION if i drive. Can anyone hlep me here

    The first thing I would do is check the fluid level to see if it is full. This is usually done while the vehicle is at operating temperature and idling in park. Try to have the vehicle on level ground.
    Block the wheels or have someone inside the vehicle with their foot on the brake. The fluid level should be at the full mark on the dip stick. If it is low, then add some fluid until it is full.
    (DO NOT OVERFILL). If there is no fluid on the stick at all then shut the engine off and check to see if you notice any signs of fluid leakage underneath the vehicle.
    Some vehicles do not have transmission dip sticks. On these vehicles, the bottom of the pan is usually stamped "do not service". If this is the case, then the fluid level can only be checked by looking for signs of leakage or have the fluid changed by a transmission flushing machine.
    It could also be a bad 2-3 shift solenoid but, the fact that it has a warning light makes me think of another possibility. Check the engine coolant for signs of contamination. If so, then the transmission cooler may be leaking into the coolant. If this turns out to be the case, then do not drive the vehicle until the problem is corrected if possible. Otherwise, damage to internal transmission components can result. I hope that this information is helpful and thank you for trying

Transaxle clutch wont release when hot stalls engine

Replace the Torque Converter Solenoid in
the transaxle

What you have is like coming to a stop with
a manual shift & not pushing in the clutch & it stalls
the motor

The converter clutch is staying locked & your
trans is connected to the motor

After stopping the car wont go, like the transmission didnt down shift

So your saying the car stalls out at a light.
Does this happen at all speeds or speeds above 45mph's? If it happens at all speeds probably not transmission related . But if it happens at speeds above 45mph's sounds like brake light switch not disengaging Torque converter clutch solenoid (TCC solenoid).

My 93 ford probe gt wont idle and wont shift outa 2nd gear

Sounds like you need to check your vaccum lines for a leak. This is easy to do. Buy a can on carburator cleaner and with a friends help keep the car running as you spray your vaccum lines with the carburator cleaner one by one. If you have a leak it will **** the cleaner into the lines and cause the vehicle to stall out. Replace the line if this happens and continue checking all lines until all bad lines are replaced.
