Ok tha trans cooler lines are held in by clips look at he adaptor in the groove and see if there is a clip if not you have to go the the dealer. If you ask one of the techs they may have them

Installed a new radiator - now a small trans fluid leak at bottom of radiator where trans fluid enters radiator.


You didn't get anything cross-threaded, hopefully? I don't know year--make--model--engine size of vehicle?

Usually when I mount a new radiator, I set the radiator in place, then hook up the tranny lines, first, before the radiator mounts, incase I need to move the radiator a little, to get the threads on the tranny lines to match up with fitting threads on the radiator. I usually tighten the tranny lines last.

Take the leaking line loose, check to see if threads look ok? You may have to take radiator mount loose, so you can move the radiator a little to get threads to match up properly. I haven't used thread tape on plastic lines, I guess you could try it, if else fails?

What goes in the hole half way up on my radiator?


the lines come from the automatic transmission. this is how the trans fluid is cooled.you will just have to re-route the lines to use on the bottom. should not be much of a problem.

I am installing a trans cooler on a 700R trans. Which line is the return line?


most trans coolers don`t have a thermostat in them to allow quicker warm up of the trans fluid so it doesn`t matter which line is connected to the cooler as the flow will always be the same through the cooler.however the line that is at the bottom of the radiator is usually the return line and the top line is the pressure line and the fluid cools as it flows through the rad tank to the lower line.hth

Need to change radiator on 2006 ford explorer


THE EASIEST WAY TO REPLACE THIS RADIATOR IS TO REMOVE THE FREON FROM THE AC SYSTEM, DISCONNECT THE LINES GOING TO THE AC CONDENSER, REMOVE THE FAN SHROUD TOP AND BOTTOM, THEN REMOVE THE 13MM BOLTS ON THE UPPER PART OF THE RADIATOR SUPPORTS. REMOVE THE AIR DIFLECTOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE, REMOVE THE AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY. LAST YOU NEED THE TOOL TO DISCONNECT THE TRANS LINES. ONCE THIS IS DONE THE RADIATOR AND THE CONDENSER WILL COME OUT IN ONE PIECE. AFTER THIS IS DONE YOU CAN EASILY REMOVE THE RADIATOR FROM THE SUPPORT.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE TOOL TO REMOVE THE TRANS LINES YOU CAN UNSCREW THE TRANS LINES FROM THE RADIATOR. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE FITTINGS OFF THE NEW RADIATOR AND USE THE OLD ONES. ONCE YOU HAVE THE RADIATOR IN PUT THE FAN SHROUD BACK IN AND TIGHTEN THE BOLTS. THEN IF YOU HAD TO UNSCREW THE TRANS LINES DUE TO NO TOOL, REMOVE ONE OF THE FITTINGS OFF THE NEW RADIATOR AND SCREW THE OLD FIITING BACK IN AND TIGHTEN IT. THEN REMOVE THE OTHER TRANS FITTING AND SCREW IT IN USING THE OLD FITTING. DO NOT REMOVE BOTH OF THE TRANS FIITINGS ON THE NEW RADIATOR AT THE SAME TIME OR YOU WILL LOSE THE RESEVOIR IN THE RADIATOR. ONCE THIS IS ALL DONE EVACUATE THE AC SYSTEM, RECHARGE THE AC, FILL THE RADIATOR WITH COOLANT AND YOU SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND REPLACING THE RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, AND THE RADIATOR CAP AT THE SAME TIME. I BELIEVE THE THERMOSTATS IN THIS VEHICLE DO NOT OPEN AS DESIGNED WHICH CREATES VERY HIGH PRESSURE IN THE COOLING SYSTEM WHICH CAUSES THE RADIATOR TO FAIL PREMATURELY.
AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE CHECK THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE AND MAKE SURE IT IS NOT ROCK HARD, IF YOU DID NOT REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT. IF IT IS ROCK HARD REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT.
THINGS TO CHECK:
CHECK THE RAD/CONDESER SUPPORTS FOR CRACKS YOU MAY FIND THEY ARE BROKEN IF THEY ARE REPLACE THE SUPPORT. IT IS AVAILABLE FROM FORD.

Does my 1998 4 door 4wd jimmy have a trans cooler?


The trans cooler is in one of the radiator tanks.All automatics have this.Some vehicles with the bigger motors and transmissions will also have a separate cooler.Some people will install a separate cooler in there vehicles when they do a lot of hauling or trailering.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Leak in transmisson line around the trucks radiator


Most likely the rubber hose at the end of the metal trans lines, where they connect to the bottom of radiator
I would disconnect at the trans,cut the rubber hose off,and lay it out on the gound,where you can carefully cut off the furrell and just replace the hose using a clamp on both ends.

Cannot locate trans oil cooler


Most American vehicles have the trans cooler built into the radiator, On older models, the trans cooler was located at the bottom but in newer vehicles the trans cooler will be found on the left or right side of the radiator. It is actually part of the radiator and cannot be removed.

If the vehicle was equipped with an additional trans cooler you should be able to locate it my tracing one of the transmission lines.

I have a 1990 mazda 929 and it is sucking transmission fulid into the engine Ive change the modulator valve what else could it be. rebuilt the engine twice and same problem occures


auto trans cooler if located in radiator,check auto cooler lines run from trans(like brake line tube or rubber,run to side or bottom of radiator,could be leaking into radiator,thus engine...not uncommon or older or poor quality cars,in your case older

The trans coolant lines when replaced the line at the top of the radiator ,does it also go to the top of the trans? there is an upper and lower on both the trans and radiator, is it top to top and bottom...


there are 2 lines from trans. to radiator.the 'cooler'' inside the radiator is no more than a tube connecting the two lines to form a 'loop' if all is original,there should only be one 'best fit'.T to T, B to B [ lines parallel] sounds like it.
