The basic steps are to start at the rear most wheel and move your way towards the master, Having someone on the pedal, pump it up and hold it, break the bleeder open, get a small hose on the nipple there and pump it into a can, do not let go of the pedal till the bleeder is tight, then do it again, you should see some air come out, keep checking the reservoir, and go round the car. One time should do it. The bleeder can be broken 10 times if it needs it, seeing it was an empty master when you started. If it doesn't work, do it again. Hope this helps.

Best way is with pressure bleeder system
i have also luck out by backbleeding the system
get an new oil pump can fill with fluide open bleeder screw
insert clear tubbing over bleeder screw and on to oil spout
start pumping oil can until oil fill top reservoir then sht bleeder and remove tube and oil can
most system use brake fluide for clutch
thats why need to use new oil pump can do not cross contaminate with any other oil
worked for me

don't take it to a mechanic
take it to an accredited brake and clutch specialist shop and have the jib done properly
if you know that you need to replace the clutch master cylinder then why you not had it done
as a point of good service it is best to replace both the master cylinder and slave cylinder if you want a trouble free job

I have a 2003 Saturn ion 2, I pressed the clutch in and I won't reengage. It acts as if the trans shelled out but I know it hasnt , could it be the slave cylinder?

This type of church uses fluid from the brake master cylinder. First crack to see that the brake master cylinder had plenty of DOT3 brake fluid in it. If so the system has either developed a leak at the slave end which is a ballooning type of hydraulic throw out bearing assembly, or the brake fluid got so low the catch hydraulic system has gotten air in it and needs to be bled. Bleeding this type of system is a pain and needs to be performed by a mechanic who has been trained on this system. Most likely the church slave cylinder is leaking. Look under the vehicle and see if there is a lot of wetness between the transmission and engine.

Clutch doesn't disengage on 2004 Saturn ion

sounds like the clutch needs replacing or the hydraulic slave cylinder or master is bad.

Clutch bleeding

loosen the line at the master cylinder to allow the master cylinder to prim properly then bleed out the system. There is still air in the system.

CLUTCH WONT WORK

There is a clutch master cylinder,a clutch slave cylinder, and the fluid. If you press on the clutch pedal and there is no pressure you lost the fluid,if either leak from the master or the slave even the hose line,A rule of thumb the master clutch cylinder and a slave are replaced as pair,

My clutch seems to have gone out tonight. The clutch is very easy to push to the floor...and it pops back....there's no pressure at all. The clutch fluid is leaking from the hose. Could this be the...

it could be either the master cylinder or the slave cylinder,it could also be the clutch pressure plate check the master & slave cylinders first because if it's the pressure plate the gear box will have to be removed to replace the pressure plate, even if you are uncertain it is most likely cheaper to replace the master & slave cylinders than it would be to replace the pressure plate.....hope this helps......cheers.

Im having difficulty in bleeding a cluch o a ford

clutch systems bleed just like brakes, if you have an external leak at the clutch master cylinder, then bleeding will be difficult, it should be replaced. I use a two person bleeding system, I fill the master, crack the bleeder screw open and have my 2nd push the clutch down and hold it, then I close the bleeder and tell my 2nd to release the pedal, repeat until no air is present.

Good or bad thing to do

if there is a kit made for it and u are familiar with how to rebuild a hydraulic cylinder then no problem unless the cylinder bore is pitted or badly scored, in that case it is not rebuild-able. U will need a cylinder hone to do this, available at any parts store for about $10
