Question about 1992 Nissan Pickup

1 Answer

Fuel warning and battery warning (in the dashboard) stays on even when im already driving. I had my alternator and battery line checked already. I tried using new battery as well. The fuel gauge still works. When i stopped the engine and left it idle for more than 2hrs, it takes more than 5 secs (but just 1 click) to start the engine. But when left idle for less than two hours, it only take just a second or two to start.

I suggest checking your fuel filter, and cleaning rthe battery terminals THOROUGHLY.Also make sure if you have a battery that has the type caps that allow you to check the battery water level, make sire the water level is at least one quarter inch from the top. Also make sure belt on alternator is tight or the belt tensioner is working properly.

Can I turn off the Trunk Open warning that is stuck on, on my dashboard?

Hello,
The obvious action to take would be to trace down the component that has failed/shorted/ etc and replace it/fix it so the light on the dash goes out properly. If you have done something like this already to no avail then you could try taking out the corresponding bulb in the instrument cluster itself. You may need to remove the cluster but the bulbs tend to come out pretty easily. I never recommend and am not currently recommending anyone ever take out any bulbs in the cluster as it can be misleading especially upon resale. But for daily driving purposes and convenience, ill throw that option on the table.. Hope this helps

Why does the battery light stay on. when ive already put new alternator and new bettery in car.

It could be the wire from the alternator to the ECM. Or the ECM has shorted.

Your battery are okay but you may have an alternator/generator problem, it's not charging back electricity to the battery. That's the common interpretation of that battery warning light on the dash...

What does it mean when your battery light comes on?

All cars have a battery light on the dashboard that is designed to warn you if the recharging system fails. A simple circuit looks at the voltage that the alternator is producing, and turns the battery light on if it is low. The battery light indicates a battery charging problem. If the battery light comes on and stays on while you are driving, the most common cause is a broken alternator belt. Total failure of the alternator is another possibility.

Battery light is staying on and i have lost power steering

While driving my 2006 pt c. All the warning lights come on, the dashboard needle gauges go down, and the car looses power. I pump the gas peddle and it goes back to normal.

My car cut off while driving, almost like an altenator issue.. but now the car will turn over, but it chokes right back out even if you try to give it gas. there are no check engine lights on.

You may check the alternator but normally the battery light flashes in your dashboard if the alternator has an issue. You may want to check the wiring of the ground. Worst case, it could be a wiring issue in the loom. If it is a carb, you may want to check the idle control or the fuel air mixture, if it needs to be adjusted. Even a dirty fuel filter can be a culprit. If it is an EFI engine you may check on the vacuum lines and the Idle Air control valve.

Battery dashboard light

its not charging, check the belt that drives your alternator, your fuses, check for some loose connections at the back of alternator, if the light stays on while the engine is running, replace your alternator. good luck!
