Question about Lincoln Continental
Pretty short description but based on what you have written, I would first check the throttle position sensor and/or the Idle Air Control-either or both can cause your symptoms, and even though you don't state the year and model, it can and should eventually throw a code which will almost surly point to one of the other sensor.
