Question about 2003 Chevrolet Corvette

1 Answer

Some times my key FOB opens the drivers door lock, and other times it does not? It seems to open the passenger side without fail, but the drivers side at times requires the key to open it? Any ideas? Thank you

There could be quite a few things that could be the cause. I would recommend having your local mechanic evaluate and diagnose it. It could be anything from a loose electrical connection in the door to a faulty power lock actuator.

Hi, My 2013 Toyota RAV4 front passenger door lock is caught. It sounds like it locks/unlocks- but we can't get it open-seems caught. How can we fix this? We don't use keys, always have fobs in our poc

If the electonics magic fails , this is first., right?

just passenger door?

so locks can jam, and can be very hard to fix.

object stuck there, (closing door with junk in hands)

also playing with latch, by kids can trip it into an illegal mode.

first get it closed, 100% is it.

then use the key, if that don\'t work it needs service.

the key is for emerancies, say baby stuck in car, so..... use it.

It might work if you disconnect your battery for 10 minutes to clear the old Code and then reconnect it before you try to program the new FOB.

Help.... i have just bought a honda accord 2000 with central fob locking. i locked the car with the remote key fob and now the drivers door is stuck, locked shut. all other doors respond from the key fob...

it could be a number of things stopping it from opening. I cant offer a definate solution but I have some things for you to try.
Firstly get some one to push the car door inwards that is closed position while you press the remote fob on and off, continously trying to push the door and pull the handle if that makes sense, lean in against the door with the door handle in the open/up position, at times the mechanisim within the door can jam up and often putting pressure either way on the door while trying to open and suing the remote can free it off. the thing with these cars and a lot of modern cars is they have "dead locks" which means the car will seal the door completely thinking someone is stealing it. so even the remote fob has trouble at times.

The metal circle thing on the door is where the lock would be if it had one, you should be able to pop that metal cap off to expose the mechanism behind it, howver some of these are blank behind them so you would have to pop it off to see.

Do you have a red key with the car? if so then put this in the ignition to the on postion but not running, then press the remote fob, again this can free the dead lock. failing all these things it could be a failed mechanism, if this happens then it is troublesome to open the door at all, you would have to remove the trim of the inside of the door which is not easy with the door closed, once you dop get it off you can slide you hand in the gap and pull the release rod to open the door.

Hope this helps, I would recommend though if your not savvy with cars to have a garage open the door if you have to remove the trim that is.

Regards and good luck

Why would my door handles (inside and out) intermittently fail and not open the doors.? I can see one door going out (mostly the passenger door) but at one time both failed and then by magic they start...

the mechanism at the door lock is not returning the park position that's why you can't open it try lubricating the lock, the return spring could be hanging up. worst case scenario you will have to remove the door panel and lubricate it from the inside. the lock is fine.

2004 Civic Drivers door lock

The driver's side door lock button is designed not to lock from the inside unless the handle is pulled, or the power switch is used. This serves as a reminder to not lock your keys inside.

If you are inside, and push down on the button (not the switch) hard enough to lock it, you've probably damaged it.
