There is a 12 volt feed to the coils. The control module only controls when the spark goes to the cylinders. If you bought made in china junk, this is why you smoked the coils. 20% is bad at the git go, 30% goes out in a month or two. 5 to 10% might make it past the warranty.

Range rover p38 problems

Go under the vehicle and check for broken exhaust pipe clamps or the pipe or muffler hitting on the undercarriage, check with the system heated up as it will expand up to 1 inch. Also you may need suspension bushings, they are pretty much done at about 100,000 mile mark.

P38 misfires and pops when hot

it is possible that you have access carbon buildup around your valves or on top of the Pistons that gets hot and on cruise causes the engine to misfire. It is also possible that you have some water in the mix that is forced through under normal conditions that under cruise conditions is causing problems also.

Ignition coil burns out on Range Rover P38 efi

make sure you disconect the battery or the computer still reads that the circuit is open and will fry a perfectly good coil. I had the same issue and had to do a second time. Disconected the battery and now no problems.
