Question about Ford Escape

1 Answer

Transmission is leaking from my 2008 ford escape. The VIN number does show that it was manufactured in Kansas, but because i am in Canada the recall did not include canadian owners.

What do you need? I would cantact Ford of Canada in back of owner manual with letter, not phone, if issue is the same. TEXT:

In some of the affected vehicles, the transmission fluid cooler may develop a crack in the tube below the right hand (RH) mounting bracket from thermal and vibration fatigue. This may lead to a small transmission fluid leak and possible rough / harsh shifts. Dealers are to inspect the transmission fluid cooler for a grommet and possible fluid leak below the RH mounting bracket. Based on the results of the inspection, dealers will perform one of the following service

actions:

INSPECTION

1. Using a suitable light, look through the radiator grille and inspect the transmission fluid cooler mounting bracket for a grommet behind the mounting bolt. See Figure 1 and Figure 2.

Inspection Result Service Action

Grommet present - No further action required

Grommet not present and transmission fluid cooler not leaking - Install transmission fluid cooler mounting bracket

Grommet not present and transmission fluid cooler leaking - Install new transmission fluid cooler.

What digit in my vin number indicates transmission type for a ford aerostar 93 3.0 ? thank you

The VIN does not designate transmission type. You will need to get the information off of the transmission itself.

Tip

What does my VIN mean?

Here are some basic examples of what a VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) means, as where was my car made, and a source for understanding what do VIN numbers mean.

  • First vehicle identification numberdigit: U.S.A.(1 or 4), Canada (2), Mexico (3), Japan (J), Korea (K),England (S), Germany (W), Italy (Z)

  • Second vehicle identification number digit specifies the manufacturer. Audi(A), BMW (B), Buick (4), Cadillac (6), Chevrolet (1), Chrysler (C),Dodge (B), Ford (F), GM Canada (7), General Motors (G), Honda (H),Jaguar (A), Lincoln (L), Mercedes Benz (D), Mercury (M), Nissan (N),Oldsmobile (3), Pontiac (2 or 5), Plymouth (P), Saturn (8), Toyota (T),Volvo (V).
And this is where I found them:

If this was of assistance, or helped in solving your problem. Please take the time to rate it, as I took the time to write it. Thank you.

I cant find where to check the transmission fluid or where to put it on my 2001 ford escape.please can you show me on a map or something where it is..

Ford came out with an a bad idea of not being able to check the ATF in some of their transmissions. the explorer is the famous one for it. If you have the 2.0 liter engine I don't think there is a dip stick to check it. If you have the 3.0 lter V6 engine it does have a dipstick and is located in the number 3 position (see picture below). Just incase you do have the 3.0 I want to mention that there was a recall for the transmission control module for that year on some of there vehicles. I hope you have the 3.0. Hope this helps and good luck.

Has there been a recall on the 2008 Suzuki Forenza?

YOU CAN USUALLY GO TO SUZUKI RECALLS ONLINE, AND ENTER YOUR VIN NUMBER TO FIND OUT! SOME SIGHTS DON'T NEED THE VIN NUMBER, BUT THEY WILL LIST ALL RECALLS ONLINE, AND GO FROM THERE!

I have tried to find the new tsb for the 2008 ford escape with the transmission cooler. It was supposedly issued on march 15. However, when I contacted the dealer they had no reference to this new tsb. Can...

It is a recall. The number is 09b10. If there is no rubber grommet on the right side condenser bolt, a new bracket is to be installed. Have the dealer run your vin it should come up on oasis print out. Good luck.

2008 ford escape transmission cooler failure

Hello! it is very unfortunate your situation. it is **** service departments staffed with incompetence. i have made a 20 year career out of the automotive industry, the last 16 with dealerships. i pride myself in customer service and frown on all of the hacks that are out there ruining a good name. Yes fors has had issues with the "combo cooler" it is a condenser for the airconditioning and cooler for the tranmsision. when repairs are performed @ the dealership, it carries a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty when they use oem parts. you stated it has been 2 coolers in 13 months? the warranry is based off of the original installation. not each addition failure should they occur. now that this is understood. your dealership has the ability to utilize their "CLP" budget to satisfy your needs. this is caled a P18. CLP stands for customer loyalty program. it is a tool that dealerships can use to help people in situations like yours. HOVEVER there are 2 questions they ask on the form to be submitted..is the customer a maintenance customer of the ford dealership and do they have an extended warranty. if the answer is no to either question....welll..you get the point. i do beleive they should assist you by maybe discounting the parts and labor in the interest of your return visits. as i tyoe this long drawn out letter, i wonder if the canadian warranties are different or for that matter if you have the complimentary powertrain warranty that comes with fords sold in USA it is a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. if the advisor looks up coverage by using fords computer system and inputs the true part number of condenser...it would say not covered....but the failure is actually the transmision cooler..which if was seperate from the condenser, would have a different part number...that part number may come up as a covered repair...hmmmm...i will check this for you tomorrow @ work and get back to you

Power Steering Pump Leaks

call a Ford dealership and give them the VIN of your car and they will let you know if there is a recall on it. the only thing you do to replace it is you take the belt off and remove the line from the pump and take it off but once you put the new pump on and fill with powersteering fluid turn the wheel back and forth left to right to get the air out of the system
