Look around the lever for a switch (it presses it when you release the brake) re adjust it or replace it or reconnect the wires (or disconnect them, it will put the light out)

Im trying to replace the brake light switch on a dodge stratus rxt

Sorry about the SPAM answer you got from "jamessizer"...

He only cares to advertise ...

Hello Vicki King,

I looked up the RXT brake switch and it appears under the dash at the brake pedal ... about $13 to $20...

I personally always check out contrasting parts prices at
rockauto.com... but a brake light IS A SAFETY DEVICE you might not want to wait to save a few $$$.

Hope this helps!

Dodge Stratus-1999.I do not have the owners manual for this car. Rear drum-brakes with half-moon adjusters and small springs. How do these adjusters work.and how the small springs are important?...

Try backing up and pulling the emergency brake until the car stops, to adjust the brakes. This works on some cars....not for sure on yours.

the brake light is shared by the e brake and the sensor in the master cylinder that tells when the fluid is low, pull the e brake release and pull the e brake pedal up with your foot in cases it is not fully releasing
