Question about 2006 Ford Fusion

1 Answer

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion. The seats belts are so tight that I can't stand to wear them. Especially the one on the drivers side. It is like with every little jar it tightens up. I have to hold it with my left hand and drive with my right or not have it on at all. The one on the riders side is bad, too, but not as bad as the one on the drivers side. Help!!!!!

Hello from Fordland!
your dealer is able o supply you with a seatbelt extender at no charge. this is a courtesy that ford gives to thei owners. see your local ford dealer for details..i hope this helps, your thumbs up is appreciated....BTW, the right front and all rear seat belts have a child safety feature buil into the retractors. it will cause the seatbelts to cinch tight an not release once engaged, until the seatbelt has been fully retracted therby releasing the locking mechanism...this feature is only engaged when the retractor is pulled out to is fullest limits, at that point you will hear a ratcheting noise as it retracts....

I have the same issue with my 2010 Fusion / passenger side.
Honeydew - You missed the problem entirely.
We understand how the retractor is supposed to work
We are not so FAT that we need an extender.
The issue is that the retractor wil lock and then keep tightening with NO Apparent reason.
    - Put the belt on normally, all is well, the belt will pay out more slack as you lean forward and pull in the slack as you sit back. Exit the driveway. Halfway to work and THEN Suddenly and without any apparent reason, the ratchet will Lock (not as a result of the car decelerating suddenly etc). This happens randomly when cruising on a smooth flat road. At this point, the belt will continue to tighten with every motion until you cant breath. Unlatch the belt, let it rewind completely, Pull it out (Not all the way out!) and latch the belt, begin this dance all over again.
The problem is that the ratchet should only engage when needed, (sudden deceleration, sudden forward movement of the passenger, etc). or as designed when the belt is pulled all the way out.

You need to have all the suspension components checked for excessive wear. Also check the wheel bearing for noise.

I have a 2008 Ford Fusion and the seat belt chime goes off all the time even if the seat belt is worn. How do I fix that?

This veh has an airbag system and that lamp system is part of it. It is not recommended for one without the proper training to attempt to diagnose or repair due to the danger of setting off the airbags.
It needs to be scanned by a shop that has a scanner that is capable of scanning the RCM (Airbag System)system.

Chances are the seat belt buckle switch is bad or switch is unhooked. that would require replacement or re-connection.
if you try and look at it for connection be sure and unhook the neg battery cable and wait about 15-20 min for the back reserves to deplete in the RCM.

Air bag code 33 for a 2005 lincoln town car

2005 Towncar SRS Code 33 (3 flash + 3 flash, repeat this set for twice. then Beep 5 times pause x 5 = 25 beeps every 30min).

This means you have problem with left (Driver) side pretentioner (Seat belt retract system).
It doesn't mean physical belt or retract mechanism. It is just bomb wiring which is part of airbag system.
When airbag deploy, passenger must stay tight in seat otherwise body lean to front then slam back to seat by airbag.
if belt is loose or delay to lock, passenger's body rocks back and forth. So, system use small bomb (Fire power) to lock and retract seat belt when airbag deploy. There is small bomb and igniter in part of Seat belt retractor.
Code 33 is warning for this part on 2005 Towncar.(older model is different meaning in Ford/Lincoln, it's possibly passenger side airbag system for earlier model)
Before you work for any part of Airbag system and touch any "Yellow connector", * *Disconnect battery (negative side is good enough) and wait at least 5 min to clear all power in system**.(Airbag store back up power for few minutes to be able to deploy even in case if power disconnected)
by the way, you should move your driver seat most forwarded position before you disconnect battery to make it easy to work with seat belt.
locate driver side seat belt retractor (in center pillar between front and rear door, you may have to fight with weather strip)

Locate Yellow connector on bottom of Seat belt retractor (it's called "Pretensioner")it is located on very bottom of rear side of retractor.
only one yellow connector. (make sure your battery is disconnected)
Check its physical connection or looseness.if connection looks fine, you may have to replace whole seat belt ($180-$200 in Lincoln dealer)
You can check if pretensionor is good or bad by regular tester, but unless you know how, I won't tell (because I don't wan't you to blow out pretentionor).

Seal belts on both front seats (driver side and passenger side) will not pull out of the retractor. Don't want a fine for not wearing belt but it won't work. No one seems to know how to fix it. ...

No one can fix it!

Don't you find that odd?

You remove the plastic seat belt retractor covers,
on the floor by the "B" Piller

If you need to replace them, the retractors I mean, there
is a special GM Torx Driver Bit for seat belts

I would play around with them to see what the issues are

IF THEY HAVE AN AIR BAG INVOLVED e.g. SRS
System integrated into the seat belts, disconnect the battery
(before) you even think of going near the covers

I have a 2007 ford fusion and i was driving one day and placed the seat belt behinf the headrest and now it is locked and there is not enough slack to move it. how do i get it unlocked ?

Try this:
1. On the door post, the belt holder can slide up and down. Slide it to loosen the belt tension, being careful to not let the belt tighten.
2. If no belt slack, try adjusting the seat back either lean forward or back, if possible.
3. You may have to move seat back / forth and adjust seat back a certain way.

How do I replace a drivers side front seatbelt on a ford mondeo

well the seatbelt in the front of a car are very strong and should be bolted in both from the underneath of the car in the middle and on the edge of inner door seal, most upto date cars there will be a cap which removes from angle at top most point of seat belt to undo. all bolts should be lock tighted(chemical metal) to seal and not undo in unlikey event of bad crash.
