Hi. If you open the water resevoir bottle, you will plainly see the oil in the water if it has blown a head gasket. SOunds to me like a sensor of some kind. Why not take it to Nissan for a fre diagnosis. Hope this helps

the computer diagnosis actually picked up the problem of the sensor, the mechanic i think wanted to rip me off by suggesting it was the head gasket, so what do i do about the sensor, he sez it cant be fixed , it needs to be overridden

I suggest that you take it to a different mechanic. This guy sounds like an idiot!. Ofcourse you can replace it, that"s why Nissan installed the sensor in the first place. Sorry to ramble on a bit , but people trying to rip off other pelple really gets me going! They do over ride it, but only once the sensor has been replaced, otherwise, one week down the line you get the same error message. Hope this helps

Have 1998 Malibu with overheat problem. Have changed Thermostat and water pump. No water in oil and no oil in water. It is using water but I cannot see any leaks.

Is your fan turning and blowing air across the radiator?
Take radiotor cap off before you start the engine and then wath inside the radiator and check to see water circulating thru radiator.

I changed my oil once and drove it home then it stopped running for a moment the oil still looked like a milk shake

You most likely have a blown head gasket allowing the water and oil to mix. What does the water in your cooling system look like? Do you see any brown froth or droplets? If so, you should consider towing to a mechanic for an opinion. Most likely, the cost of the repairs may not be worth it if the car has too many miles on it. Sorry.

97 marquis, owner stated car shut while driving, oil light came on he added oil, car the cranked, drove home, next day while driving car shut off again, same problem, adds oil(but doesn't check dipstick,...

yes that is a sure sign of a blown head gasket! water and anti-freexe is heavier than oil and settles to bottom and will not mix with oil and will be the first out of the holel!.

hopefully this help you. good luck man

Overheated car , fixed huge leak from water pump , shaking now

Hi the car would only need to overheat once to blow the head gasket,, it depends on how hot the engine got and how long you carried on driving it, you can boil the oil crack the cylinder head ect,,, check the oil for water mixing with it (common sign of head gasket failure) the oil goes like a milky colour,, but if you have already checked this then still dont rule the head gasket out,,, it can leak the other way water out of the cylinder head,,, check for any signs of dripping water around the cylinder head, white smoke from exhaust pipe ect,,
But the best way to rule it out would be to get a compression test done this wont cost much and give you a definate answer,, If it is the headgasket it aint expensive to buy the parts its the labour that cost as it aint a small job,,, if you have the manual give it a go yourself and remember you can post on here if you get stuck along the way,,
Hope this helps some
