Question about Chevrolet Camaro

1 Answer

I have a 96 Camaro Z28,it hesitate and stalls from time to time,it may go 3 or 4 days before it does it again. When it stalls it would run bad the rpm would fluctuate up and down just sitting part while idling.I was on interstate driving about 65 mph all of a sudden my car started surging as if wasn't getting any gas, then all of a sudden it lined back out for another 10 miles & it would do it again.I replace the fuel pump (AC Delco) & fuel filter. After that didn't fix the problem I attempt to replace the MAF,my mechanic took his off of a 97 Camaro Z28 it didn't fix the problem so that ruled out the possibility of a bad MAF.Please help running out of money & patience!

How about water or dirt in the gas? It sounds like when the tank gets low this happens, so you need to check the tank out and make sure you are not getting watered down gas. This is very common and would cause the symptoms you are describing. I have a 98 Z28, so let me know if there is anything more I can help you with.

7 Minutes in a bad scenario.
3 Minutes best.
The hardest thing to do is getting the screw that secures the rotor out.
Other than that, cake walk.

You might be experiencing a problem with your Vats security system. GM installed these anti theft systems on almost all of its cars in the 90's. (that little black chip in your key) They are known for turning off starters and injectors. Check out this link for symptoms, explanation of how it works, and solutions to the problem that you can do yourself. Hope this helps. http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

Fuel pressure? Do you hear the fuel pump running? Read the codes to see if ECM is still alive. Do you have spark at the plugs? Remember all motors need 3 things to run air, fuel, and fire at the right time.

The rear seal of the intake manifold will leak but the sendinging unit for oil pressure is more likly. if it's just a light on switch just change it for general practice as their cheap and the distrubutor drive can leak but you need the swich removed to check this area as the valve covers leaking are the most common problem don'et overlook them as they leak in all kinds of ways. miles and or time tells me how bad a leak is you can let'er sit and the oil drain plug can leak a 1/2 quart but you don't even drive itand does it leak if it sits? can you look under thew car with it running and see it drip? a 1/2 quart leak is easy to find unless you drive real far in 3 days. Oil pressure sending unit ( bet-so)

96 Camaro Z28 with a V8 that intermitantly stalls while driving.

if it dies in a slow manner like fuel look at fuel pump AND relay. relays will get resistance build up and do weird stuff.Fuel pumps (especially gm)will get thermal breakdown(motor gets hot and decides to quit until cool off) If it is like you turned the key off and it rather violently stops--then that would be the module or coil or some ignition related area.
