To reset security alerts, do the following:

  1. Use your key to physically unlock the driver's door
  2. Put key in ignition and turn to ON position (don't try to start) for 15 seconds
  3. After 15 seconds, then go ahead and start the car
Your security alerts should now be reset. There is a possibility that you will need a key from the dealership to unlock your stereo. GM stereos have their own security measures built in to prevent use in other vehicles so a sudden loss of power will enable these measures.

The bulbs in the control head for the heater/ac are nor serviced by GM but I think you can purchase them at radio shack if you can get the head out and apart I am pretty sure you can replace them.

Replaced the battery on a GMC Sierra 2005. Turned AC on, it cooled for about a minute and started blowing hot air on the driver side, the passenger side blows cold. What does replacing the battery have to...

you have taken the calibration out of sink. you will now have to remove battery power again for about 5 minutes. after this time reconnect the battery. then turn key to on position for 3 minutes but do not touch the heater control or temperature controls. This should allow the heater and ac system to recalibrate. once the 3 minutes is up turn key off and then back on and start truck.. Try your controls again and see what happens. if no change then dealer will have to reprogram the heater control calibration for you.

Car starts good idle good but cuts off when gear is put in drive car also cuts off when the a/c is on but when it is warmed up drives good ...please help thanks {nissan b14 ga15 }

Try unhooking one of the battery cables and leave it off for at least 20 minutes. When you hook it back up the computers should re-boot. That has solved problems for me with heater, interior lites, power windows, AC, day time running lites, power mirrors, CD player, and wipers on GM autos and S-10 PU and Dodge trucks. None of the switches are connected to the device they control anymore. The switch tells the computer to open the window and the computer send a signal to the window motor. When the computer gets confused strange things will happen or not happen. Of course you may have to re-set your radio stations.

If that doesn't fix it, then check you idle speed adjustment. Take it to Advance Auto parts and they will read out the computer error codes for you and that will tell you what the computer thinks the problem is.

I need to install an evaporator core in 1997 xj6. Any tips or suggestions?

Ok , I will try to guide you as simple as I can :
1- Remove the Heater / Cooler unit this is how : * Disconnect Battery ground cable
* Recover AC gas or empty it in open space
* Drain radiator coolant only
* Remove instrument panel for access
* From under the hood disconnect AC pipes at the evaporator , by removing bolts , discarding O-Rings and make sure to install blanking plugs so that no dirt goes in.
* Disconnect heater hoses from heater matrix pipes , by releasing the spring band clips and make sure to blank the pipes
* From inside the car , remove driver footwell duct , by removing the screw and then removing the duct
* Remove upper steering column lower fixing , nuts and bolts
* Remove upper steering column upper fixings (Bolts) , and allow column to rest down o the floor
* Cut cable tie which secures console harness to LH blower duct
* Remove LH fan motor duct (screws)
* Remove passenger side footwell vent (nut)
* Cut cable tie securing console harness to RH blower duct.
* Remove RH fan motor duct (screws)
* Disconnect Heater/Cooler Connector
* Disconnect drain tubes from Heater/cooler assembly
* Disconnect A/CCM connectors
* Remove evaporator pipe support bracket fixing.
* Remove Heater/Cooler assembly fixing , by removing lower nut and upper nut
* Remove tape securing RH rear footwell intermediate duct joint. Remove duct to clear access
* Remove tape securing LH rear footwell duct
* Remove Heater/Cooler assembly from car.

2- Remove AC control module 3- Remove evaporator pipe seal plate 4- Disconnect heater tempreture sensor 5- Remove footwell servo motor from heater/cooler unit * Disconnect connector
* Remove screws
* Remove motor complete with bracket
6- Disconnect evaporator sensor connector * Detach heater/cooler connector
* Detach evaporator sensor connector
* disconnect connector
7- By now you can see one upper and one lower case * Remove heater/coolent unit upper case from lower case
* Remove screw
* Remove 15 clips
* Remove upper case from lower
8- Remove evaporator from case * Remove sensor and clip

You are done , make sure to replace all seals that you see to make sure that every thing is ok and you do not have any leaks after installation.
Installation : Reverse order and after installing make sure to do a pressure test to make sure that there are no leaks

not sure about US spec cars but in uk your radio is coded and you will need to put code in to radio once power is disconected.also you will need to do basic settings on electric windows if you have them??.lower the window all the way ,when it reaches the bottom keep button pressed until you hear motor click.repeat process with window closing .your widows wont auto open and close without doing this.

Try disconnecting the battery (both terminals and let set for a few hours) with ALL the accessorries on lights-heater-radio etc. This will draw all power from your system, then recconnect battery, it's worth a try even if it doesn't solve your problem. Bill
