1986 F150 won,t run on front tank. Back tank returns to front tank and runs over.

Your tank selector valve is sticking. I have seen this on two other Ford trucks. replacement is the best fix. I have heard of people taking it apart and cleaning it out. You have to be real careful if you decide to do that as there is lots of internal parts.

Check for balance pipe between tanks that allows the equalising of air pressure between tanks as the fuel will not flow from tank if there is no air release. check for correct cap on second tank

Does it run good using the back tank?if so then the fuel line may be clogged in the front tank.Need to blow it out and check for leaks.

it sounds like the switching valve is no good and needs replacing.you can clamp off the fuel hose to the rear tank and just run off the front tank until you can get it repaired.

Drain aux tank, remove/bypass switchover valve and run hose from main tank to line from switch valve forward.

you are going to have to replace the in tank low pressure fuel pump, we call this the "lift" pump.

Fuel swith depressed not poping back up


Try jumping the switch 96 is directly related to the fuel pump power.

Use a jumper lead in the connector to see if it will run that way...if so ..BAD SWITCH
