What year is this engine? and ci

From this chart - I think you may be misreading the number - 3970010 is possibly the actual number: Which makes the engine pretty old 68-72 350 V8 - 4 bolt main. I included past this number so that you can see that the number you posted doesn't actually exist. And thus my conclusion that the 9 is most likely a 0. Hope this helps. 3970010 350 69 Corvette late 69,4 bolt main 3970010 302 69 Camaro Z/28,Late 69, 4 bolt main 3970010 350 69-79 Truck 2&4 bolt main 3970010 350 69-79 Pass,Chevelle,Camaro,Nova,MonteCarlo 2&4 bolt main 3970010 350 70 Corvette 300,350,370 HP 4 bolt main 3970010 350 71 Corvette 270,330 HP 4 bolt main 3970010 350 72 Corvette 200,255 HP 4 bolt main 3970014 350 69-77 Pass,Chevelle,Camaro, Nova,MonteCarlo 2 or 4 bolt main 3970014 350 69-79 Truck 2 or 4 bolt main 3970014 350 72 Corvette late &undefined;72,200 HP,255HP 4 bolt main 3970020 307 68-73 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova 3970020 307 69-73 Truck 3970024 307 69-73 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova,Truck 3992386 327 68-69 Pass,Chevelle,Camro, Nova,Truck Large Jounal

I have a1968 chevelle with a 396 engine i recently changed the oil in it and went to syntheced oil and my lifters seem realy loud whould this be the problem

Since you replaced a valve spring you know how.. I would replace them all since one broke.. I think this car is a hydrolic lifter.. you may not have adjusted them correctky.. possibly buy new lifters, and springts from Summit racing or Jegs.. and replace them all .. this is not a very costly repair if you are doing the labor. When you have it apart look at the top of the valve that hits the rocker are.. you are looking for wear and cracks.. Look at each rocker arm looking for the same.. Please post a comment and let us know what you find..

What is a good motor oil to run in a 68 chevelle 396 engine

No it is not bad -just more expensive for no real saving. The engine oil should be changed every 5.000 miles as the purpose of the oil is to provide lubrication, hold impurities in suspension, neutralise the acids formed during combustion and give the oil a tension ability ( won't squeeze out from under the bearings under load ). I get all these things plus a heavy detergent action in the oil when I use 30w50 diesel oil plus I get longer engine life. Cheaper than synthetic oils too.

I have a 68 chevelle and my car will not turnover, its not the battery and i just recently put new spark plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, ignition module and coil and my car doesnt turn over it cranks...

If the battery is fully charged and you have good connetions, sounds like an ignition timing problem. If the timing is too advanced, teh plugs will fire before the piston is high enough in the travel and when it fires will try to turn the engine over backwards. Check to be sure the firing order is correct and you didn't mix up any plug wires since having some firing at the wrong time will do the same thing. Stock engines will have the firing order cast into the intake manifold for easy reference.

HOW DO I INSTALL A ONE PIECE FUEL LINE ON A 1966 CHEVY CHEVELLE

Thats a fun one. Had to do it on a 68 camaro. Basically from the middle of the car fish the back end over the axle until you can start the front towards the engines fuel pump. You should have gotten new retaining clips that snap or screw into the frame rails. The brake line is just as much fun.

Need in my trunk

Easiest and Most effective Solution is to Drill it out. Get you a Drill Bit a Little Bit Smaller than the Lock itself and Start Drilling till you get thru. BE CAREFUL though! I would HATE to hear that you Damaged that Chevelle! My Favorite too. Still got my 69' SS 396 Conv. and an 87' Grand National. Would KILL for Either One!!!!!
