Hi, I have petrol 2 litre new beetle (2000) it has been in and out the garage with various problems over the years. It has started to sound bumpy, missing and when you look under the bonnet the engine is moving more than it used to am sure. It has just had a new catalytic convertor on it a the previous replecement wasn't up to the new speck, but I think it has made no differance.Do I worry that my car sounds like a tractor now?

Yes: I would definitely get someone to look over your injectors, the fuel distributor, and make sure as the day is long you are getting the correct pressure in the lines. Also, have a pressure test done to make sure the head gasket is okay. (All this is assuming you have no water in the fuel, the water seperator is empty, and the filter is clean)

I have a 2000 beetle 1.6 petrol. When it warms up, the exhaust emits lots of blue/grey smoke. It is not losing any water. I have flushed and changed the oil. it needs 2 breather pipes which i will change.

would need a look iam afraid as it sounds like its sucking the oil fumes as it should into the engine but its drawing too much as a filter is missing in or around the breather pipe area ,either that or its just been hammered and now its needs new rings and a valve guides ,without a good look myself i honestly couldnt say

I have a 2000 nissan maxima that all of the sudden will not hardly rev and sputters. and back fires in intake. any one know what to check next. new parts-crank sensers both, cam sen. map sen.exhaust not...

A range of problems starting with something as simple as a nasty injector.

Sounds like an injector problem.
Many owners with vehicles which came with injectors DO NOT look after the proper
maintenance of them
My brother-in-laws 2001 had this problem which dissipated after he ran a 1/2 tank full of hi test and a couple of cans of injector cleaner.
DON'T DO THE FOLLOWING; Germany many garages (private garages) would add a liter (quart) of Diesel to the Regular petrol to run through the system - which I tried on a sluggish 1989 Porsche 911 Carera.

I also replaced the Digital Motor Electronics fuel injectors with a set of Lucas' Porsche did the same as your Nissan

A simple hook up to a computerized analyzer should get to the cause in 10.8 secs flat.

Fuse number/location for air conditioning compressor 2000 beetle

View the attached website to see if your problem is in the fuse block that is under the hood immediately on top of the car's battery.

Also, the car's blower motor/climate control is controlled by the 25 amp fuse No. 25 in the fuse block located at the end of your dashboard.

the factory fit alarm is not voltage sensing .The best advice is to go to VW garage and get them to read the alarm causes,(they can check the last 4).this will give you a good idea where the fault door lock mechanism, interior monitor etc..You cannot start looking for problem until you know alarm cause..
