There is an electric motor that switches the transfercase from 2 to 4 wd. They are bad about sticking.
Sometimes you can reset them by disconnecting the negative battery post for a few minutes. If that doesn't work carry it to the dealer. They will find the problem quicker than a regular shop.
First get the codes from the transfer case control module.This will help in diagnosing the problem.You can try pushing the 2hi and 4lo buttons simultaneously for 10 seconds.This should put the transfer case in neutral. Then try going to 2 hi.See if this will get it out of 4wd.Let me know what you find.If you need more help let me know Good luck.
this is common in jeeps i researched the same thing for mine becuase mine flashes but most everyone says its pretty much a dummy light and alot of people have replaced the information center in there jeeps and still had the same problem so i just let it be it doesnt really bother me to much.
