No parts to be replaced
iit is just the car`s control computer got confused why ? because it uses a little amount of battery voltage to save some required informations for maintenance and whatever when you removed your battery the memory volatile
so simply you need to restart that computer and it is very affordable and dosn`t need certified shop any workshop and some gase stations offer that service
drive your car it is safe and ok
but the computer must reordered back it is also necessary for you to not get confused like your car fix it

How to change 4wd light indicator on 2000 4Runner

Have to remove dash panel. Some panels are easily removed others require dash removal. I would reccommend buying a repair manual (20$) and determine if its worth time, tools, and money. If your 4X4 works just fine the absence of the light has to annoy you enough to replace it

4 wd will not engage ,indicator lights on dash do not light

If its not engaging into 4 WD the vaccum actulator is more than likely stuck. The actulator is located on the front of the axle next to the the front gear hub it will have a plastic cover over it. Unbolt the two 10mm bolts that hold the cover on and spray down with WD-40, also pull back the rubber cover thats on the actulator staff and spray it. You might have to hit the staff a few times to get it to move just make sure its in 4WD. I had the same problem, that part is exposed to alot of water, snow, salt and so on. Or you could just replace it but its cheaper to spray it down with WD-40

4WD SYSTEM

You probably have an issue with the A.D.D. (Auto Disconnect Device) on the front axle. That is what lights up the light. I'd need to know the year to get you better info. If it is newer, check the 4WD fuse under the dash. But, in any case, if it IS in 4WD, the vehicle will make tire noises on a real tight turn, and it will lurch on the same tight turn, like it is trying to drill itself into the street. 4Runners do not have a viscous coupling, in 4wd, all 4 wheels run the same RPM.
