Question about GMC C1500

I have a 1983 GMC p/u truck and the heater core sprung a leak, I would like to know if it comes out from under the dash or under the hood.

Is it smoke or mist? It sounds like the heater core has sprung a leak inside the heater case, and needs replacing. Check your heater hoses under the hood where they go into the firewall and connect to the heater core. If there is a leak there, try a tighter clamp on the hose fitting. If it's not the hose fittings, the core itself is probably leaking. Some are easy to remove and replace, and some are quite involved. Check a repair manual for your car for the procedure.

I have a 2003 Impala. It hasnt rained for a few weeks and a leak has sprung by the glove box near the passenger side. I looked online and alot of sites said it might be the window not sealed correctly but...

There is a drain tube that clogs up. It is on the firewall under the hood on the passenger side. You have to access it from under the car. Use a stiff wire and clean it out. Sometimes you can clean it with a water hose and sprayer. Just don't put a lot of water in it. Spray a little, let it drain, Do this till you don't see any mold coming out. If it clears out and you still have water issues. Replace the heater core.

Water leaking out of overflow from heater core.

If coolant is leaking from the heater core into the interior or through a weep hole out of the car your heater core has sprung a leak.
Most vehicles have easily accessible heater cores, only requiring removal of a panel under the dash or hood to gain access. On the '97 Skylark it's accessible under the dash.
  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  • Drain and recycle the engine coolant.
  • Raise and safely support the front of the vehicle.
  • Detach the drain tube, then disconnect the heater hoses from the core tubes.
  • Carefully lower the vehicle.
  • Remove the console if equipped.
  • Unfasten and remove the sound insulators, console extensions and/or steering column filler, as required.
  • Remove the floor or console outlet ductwork and hoses.
  • Remove the heater core access cover.
  • Unfasten the heater core mounting clamps/bolts, then extract the heater core from the vehicle.

To install:
  • Install the heater core, then secure using the clamps/bolts.
  • Fasten the heater core cover.
  • Connect the outlet hoses and ducts.
  • Install the sound insulators, console extensions and/or steering column filler.
  • Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  • Install the drain tube and connect the heater hoses to the core tubes.
  • Carefully lower the vehicle.
  • Connect the negative battery cable.
  • Fill cooling system and check for leaks. Start the engine and allow to come to normal operating temperature. Recheck for leaks and check coolant level. Add if necessary.

My 1990 GMC Leaks water and it comes out under the dash passenger side

hi, sounds like the heater core, it gets rusted over time and corrsion set in the heater core is located between the firewall and of under the dash hope this helps you

Temp light flashes,, coolant leaking into the car above the gas pedal.. air in the cooling system

Sounds like the heater radiator core under the dash has sprung a leak. Temporary fix to keep the cooling system operating is to bypass the heater by disconnecting the hoses where they go through the firewall and linking them together.
It's usually a big job to remove the under dash ducting to access the heater core, remove it, get it repaired and then replace all the bits.

Heater no longer works leaked inside under dash

The leak inside under the dash means that your heater core is leaking and needs to be replaced or by-passed. But by-passing it will leave you with no heater. You didnt mention the year of your truck but most likely you will have to pull the dash out to replace the heater core.

How do i replace the heater core in a 1983 oldsmobile cutlass supreme

the heater core is located under the dash board on the passenger side there is a few cap screws holding this black plastic box that hides the heater core loosen all the screws .take the plastic out of the way and u will see the heater core .there are two hoses to disconnect on the out side .under the hood on the passenger side .up near the fire wall .the re is a avaperation tank silver in color for the a/c under that there are two heater hoses to disconnect .when u remove the two hoses .they will leak antifreeze .bend the hoses over to kink them .tie some elec tape around them to keep them from leaking .go back in the car and loosen the four small screws that hold the heater core in place and remove stall the new one the same way .taking care when putting the new one through the fire wall not to damage the brass tubing ...mount heater core first the place hoses on after the screws are holding the heater core in place then put plastic cover on start car and wait for thermostat to open .turn heater on hot .after water is circulating .refill radaitor ...job done...

Need to replace heater core in 1993 buick. water leaking on floor board. need to know the location

the core is under the middle of the dash - look in under hood - you will see 2 aluminum pipes going behind motor into firewall - these are a/c lines - close to this you will also see 2 black hoses about thumb size - these are the heater hoses to the heater core - the dash might have to come out to get heater core from a/c fan housing

Heater core for 83 cadillac deville

if your 83 deville is a coupe like mine then you can access the heater core from under the hood, not the interior of the car. take a look at the blower motor and you'll see that the plastic cover that it is mounted on comes out. under that large plastic cover you'll find the heater core. it takes a while to get all the little screws out, but it's more monotonous than difficult. you'll have to disconnect the blower cables, the temp. sensor and harness, and a few little ground wires and you're there. once you get to the core it's really self explanatory. undo the hoses, replace the core, clean out the piles of pine needles that have accumulated over the years, then put it all back together. if you have the core in hand, then you can replace it in 2 hours if you take your time. hope this helped. let me know if you have any troubles.
