Question about Volkswagen Microbus

1 Answer

I have a VW microbus 2.3i and it start with flactuating the revs up and down and stops there. At times it flactuates the revs and doesn't stop. When you start after it stop it would not start or it will start after sometime and sometimes it would start immediately. Some people are suspecting the fuel pump relay and other say its the fuel pump and some are saying its the alarm system that causing the problem. They repaired the compumper box, mapping sensor and water temperature sensor but nothing has resolved the problem as yet. Please assist.

1/. Check your coil fittings to rule anything from coil side of problem.
2/. Inside distributer there is what looks like a small mini coil this may new renewing not expensive Make sure you fit any new part carefully the same as the old fitting. Best Wishes, Malcolm Campbell.

Idle flactuating specially when AC is running

This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve but always run a OBD2 fault code as well as the cleaning procedure. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
