Why does it makes a growling noise?

noises are from chipped teeth, bad bearings , misaligned gears or incorrect meshing of gears . If the noise is on drive under load in 4th gear it will be a pinion bearing If the noise is in overdrive ,(coasting down hill or to ma stop , it will be pinion bearings (diff). If it is in 1st gear it will be input shaft bearing in gear box . If it is in overdrive it will be out put shaft or rear lay shaft bearing Gear box.

2010 ford focus automatic trsnsmission makes rubbing noise when accelerating from acomplete stop . noise continues until 2nd gear engages. from then on all is fine. reverse sometimes doesnt engage, ma

A carrier bearing usually pertains to the differential assembly and would not cause the symptom you describe. There is a problem with this transmission that causes it to not drop completely to first gear after a period of driving. Ford is aware of it but I do not believe they have initiated a recall. Call your Ford dealer(s) to see if you can find an honest man. Ask for the service manager.

The speedo sensor was not plugged in all the way. The mechanic plugged it in and everything seemed fine. However, I noticed a milky oil like substance was leaking from my home when I got home. Could it...

Is this a standard transmission or automatic? If standard transmission if the entire speedometer gear assembly was left out then water could enter their. If automatic besides the gear then water can enter through the oil cooler on the bottom of the radiator.

Nissan Patrol 2003 gear jerking

That could be caused by anything from engine or transmission control problems to broken engine or transmission mounts. I would recommend taking it by your local auto repair shop and having one of the techs drive it to give you a better idea of what could be causing your problem.

I have 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid and now it has about 90K mileage on it. I never change the transmission oil for it. Since it's transmission is eCVT, do i need to change the transmission fluid at all?

yes, it is always recommendable to change the transmission fluid in cars and trucks, look at your owners manual , it will tell you when you should have changed the fluid and how often.

Code po734, po735

This is what your codes mean:

Trouble Code-P0734 (A/T Additional Gear Ratio Error In Fourth Gear)

Trouble Code Conditions:
Vehicle driven to a speed of 4-37 mph at more than 500 rpm, gear selector in 4th Gear in Drive, and the PCM detected too much difference in the engine speed and output shaft speed.

Possible Causes:

  • Customer may complain of intermittent 4th gear operation
  • O/D and 2/4 pressures less than 75 psi
  • O/D or 2/4 clutch volume indexes out of specification
  • O/D accumulator seals are damaged
  • Transmission enters "limp in" mode running in 4th gear

Trouble Code-P0735 (A/T Gear Ratio Error Fourth Prime)

Trouble Code Conditions:
Vehicle driven any forward Gear, and the TCM detected the ratio of the Input speed to the Output Speed did not match the current Gear Ratio (this test can take up to 5 minutes).

Possible Causes:

  • Related Gear Ratio trouble codes may be stored (note that some of these Gear Ratio trouble codes may be intermittent)
  • Transmission has internal problems or damage present
You have a transmission problem.

I have a 2002 mustang GT 5 speed, and it grinds going into 3rd gear, every other gear is fine, any suggestions? thanks steve

these are just some suggestions to help diagnose, 1. check gear oil level low level can cause gear free spin if not efficient amount of gear oil causing a grind as entering gear. 2. If you do some agressive driving, or rest your foot on the clutch frequently while driving, can cause excessive heat in clutch causing warpage of clutch or flywheel, once it is warped will cause vibration to transmission causing shifting issues sometimes only in one gear if you have a service boot on your transmission bell housing you can pull this of and monitor smoothness of clutch an fly wheel while running and tranny in nuetral excessive runout is a sign of something warped. 3. is not so not easy most of the time third gear is the main gear for the syncronizers, generally the first gear to show issues when they are failing, The transimission would have to be pulled torn apart and inspected to truly diagnose this as your problem. Good luck

Justy 1991 ECVT

transmission a common problem in these cars .i had 2 do me the same way.the ecvt tranny will be very hard to find and expensive probably more than what the car is worth .honestly not down-gradeing your justy because i have 3 right now and love them (all 5 speeds) .its just these trannys are so expensive and cheap built .if you could find one it probably wont last as long as the one you had its just a major problem in these cars.if it was my car i would sell it or change it over to a straight drive .the straight drives had good trannys in them.if you decide to sell it i would love to take it off your hands thanks jeff
