Question about 1996 Nissan Maxima

2 Answers

How do I remove the left rear door panel from a 1996 Nissan Maxima? The window just fell down. It can be manually lifted up, but it slides back down again. It no longer mechanically works. If you can tell me where to see a diagram on the internet with some pictures, that would be helpful. Dale

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable(for safety if you have power locks and windows)
  • At the bottom of the door panel remove the two screws
  • Pry up at the front edge of the power window switch pod and lift it out then unplug the electrical connector
  • Remove the inside door handle
  • Remove the screw in the door pull pocket
  • Pull the door panel away from the door far enough to disconnect the electrical connectors

The window regulator will most likely be broken &
need to be replaced

Don't wait on diagrams, factory service manuals
don't tell you that either, they just show a picture
of parts

Keep in mind that the internet is not a place
to go for anything free.

You should find screws to remove near the door handle
etc & may have some plastic clips behind the door
panel to pry off

Some vehicles require prying up on the window switches
to remove them ,to get to screws holding the door panel

2001 NISSAN MAXIMA LEFT REAR POWER WINDOW GOES DOWN BUT NOT UP; SWAPPED SWITCH FROM ANOTHER CAR WINDOW GOES UP BUT NOT DOWN?

The Window regulator motor is probably bad. it most likely has enough power to lower the window but not enough to bring it back up. have the door panel removed and the mechanism inspected. that should clear up your problem

The driver side window of my 2004 Nissan Maxima just slid down in the door panel. I managed to pull it all the way back up. Also, before the window fell when I pushed the switch I could hear the motor...

Your window is probably still on track but the window regulator is shot and will need to be replaced if the glass moves freely and the motor spins without moving the glass.

Are you sure. It prbable needs a window regulator. You should take of the door panel; and see if it is off track. try and pull window up and see if it moves. also try with window switch and see if it moevs a little bit and then egts struck makes like a crunching type noise.

do not force anything ,remove the door panel and have a look then post if you need more help ,but it sounds like the either the clamp or the support is loose or corroded away
