Question about Toyota Corolla

2 Answers

My son has a 2004 Corolla. It sits idel in the driveway when he is away at school. Some months back after a week-end visit, he left the dome light on completely drained the battery. Attempts to jump start were met with silence from the Corolla. After installing a new battery, there is no evidence of any power at all. No dome light, nothing. And, of course, complete silence when he tries to start it. Any ideas on what the issue could be?

There are two main fusible links on the Corolla - one is the main fusible link that runs to everything electrical on the car, the second one runs to the alternator (100A).

I would double check the power cables, could be simple as one of the chassi grounds is not connected or loose.

Hi This is a strange problem!. Because It would not jump start, and now with a new battery its
the same .
I can only think there must be a bad connection at the battery cables ( a bad connection between
the actual clamp and cable where they are joined )
You should be able to check this out with a test light or an ohm meter ( you may see some corosion if you peel back the insulation )
I hope i have been of some help to you

What's your problem?Recently I left the key on or the light on or both in my 2001 suburban.. So i jumped started it no problem. next day while taking my son to school about 1 mile on the way back

How old is the battery? Have it load tested at a car parts store. It sounds like an old or bad battery, Do you remember where it was bought? Some new batteries fail right away, take it back they will replace it.

Interior lights dont work. Dash lights or dome. No owners manual, is there a single fuse if so which one.

the driverside to left of where your left foot would sit is a door, remove the flap door and you will see the fuses, the door has a label, it shows which fuses are what. hope this is helpful.

How do i replace the dome light in my 97 corolla

The dome light is mounted on the ceiling of the car.
You would need a small flat-end screw-driver, and aim it to the base of the lens cover. Then pry the lens off.
If you cannot remove the bulb with your finger nail, then pry it out at its end. Or simply push back the bulb's contacting spring at the end of the bulb. Then steady your hand to catch it as it drops down.
Replace the lens by pushing it back to its housing.
Test the dome-light if it works. If it doesn't check the dome's door switches screwed to each door frame. Pushing on the door switches several times sometimes refreshes the dome-light. The door-switches can be removed with a medium-size 4-corner screw-driver.
By removing the black covers of the door-switches, their conditions could be detemined. Spray some electrical contact-cleaner on them if corroded, or simply replace with new ones.

My 2006 Toyota Corolla brakes squeek on initial backing up out of driveway. WHY?

normal... as a car sits over night brake rotors get a coat of surface rust on them and in some cases the brake pad will adhere to the rotor as well. as u back up the brake will become dettached. as u back up the brake pads rub the surface rust off. and noise gose away. most of the time its 2-5 brake applications before its all gone..

Starts, but put it in gear, it goes dead. will idle.

1. Had mechanic check timing again. Belt off a couple degrees. Should fix problem.
2. Don't know. this is my son-in-laws car.
3. No.
4. I think valves were bent due to timing belt breaking and son-in-law trying to start car when it went dead.
5. Will do this if timing belt reset don't work.
Thanks for your reply.
