You have an open short somewhere, remove the battery and have it checked-it may have an internal failure (plate broke and dropped to the bottom of the case)-this happens more often than you might think.

Resetting anti theft after changing ignition on 2002 toyota sequoia

Do you still have a key from the old ignition switch or was that why you had to replace it in the first place. If you have the old key I can explain how to just registaring the new keys from the transponder of the old key. I know it sounds crazy but you have to register the new keys and this is the easiest way without having special equipment. Just comment here either way or email me directly at with your information.

Ignition switch problem on 2002 Sequoia

If I'm reading the problem right, the key will will not turn in the ignition cylinder in the steering column, Right? Try to Turn the steering wheel to left & right while turning the key. Some times the steering wheel lock sticks. if that does not work, Possibly depress the brake pedal while turning key. After that, I'm out of ideas.
