2001 sebring 2.4L - car runs smooth, but idles rough intermittently.. not bad in neutral. but worse when in drive a stop, and very bad in reverse backing out.

Hey Miles ,did you get any codes from computer ? with car off put key in ignition and turn it off and on 3 times fast without starting motor and stop with key on ,that will activate on board diagnostic watch where speedometer millage counter is it will show codes ,example =P0442
when you see them wright them down ,when all codes have been retrieved dash will say DONE that's a start. most part stores can tell you what codes mean. I hope this helped if it did please check box below (helpful), thanks Woody.

S60 rough ldle and stalls after fill up

Check the evaporative system. Sounds as though there may be a stuck valve creating a vacuum om a line to the fuel tank that pulls the fuel into the motor and causing the engine to become to rich.

1999 rough idle/hesitating at idle .drives fine i

Yes it could be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold, could also be the MAF sensor (especially if you use a gauze/oil air filter).
