+Hello dkb195783: My name is Roger and I will help with your question. The amber check engine lamp is for the computer. What it is telling you is the computer has seen a problem. To find out what it saw you need to have the OBD2 computer test done. The reason is there could be 100 different things that could turn on the light. Any thing from a dirty fuel or air filter to a loose fuel cap could turn on the lamp. Your mechanic should be able to perform the test. Most part stores will also do the test. I would remind you though they sell parts. Do not put a sensor on the truck with out testing the sensor being replaced. The reason being is their could be a different problem causing the sensor to read out of range. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Thinking about buying a ford escape..2009....miles @ 132,000....is this good to buy with mileage being high

Normally this amount of mileage is fine...The Escape is safe, and popular...At these miles, the motor should have been tuned up...brakes replaced recently? Also front and rear struts are usually worn out before 80,000 miles...have they been replaced? A service record on this Escape may be available? Can you talk with the previous owner?

What problem could I Be having on my 2001 Toyota Ipsum 2AZE engine, I Just woke up to find a knocking sound on top of the cylider head with smoke that clears as the engine warms up, the sound equally

2az-fe right?
no mileage stated,, is he cam chain making noise, ignored?
get it serviced?
or buy the tools and do the tests DIY.
which choice? only 2.
  • 2000 - 2.4 L (2362 cc) 2AZ
smoke is a bad sign, on low mileage engines say below 250,000 miles and with noise worst. there must be no noise, on this engine.
no HLA's to rattle there. has solid bucket tappets.
then mean they never make noise unless, its damaged or lacking oil.
are you doing silly SYN oil changes it 25,000 miles or at 5 to 7k miles.?
id do a cylinder leak down test. by hand to protect engine from
further damage, (I do that on all DOHC engines (savvy i am)

Oil light and ticking sound

Low on oil?
Wrong weight of oil?
Tired engine?
Bad oil pump, plugged passages that feed the lifters.
Dirty oil.
Have the oil changed .
70,000 miles or more? Use "high mileage" oil. 10-30 is fine.

Purchased focus sport 2006 model no service manual. Mileage 43,000 kms. Need to know service intervals either time/mileage perhaps a copy of the service schedule will suffice.

These maintenance intervals come from the maintenance interval calculator
at www.autozone.com, using a starting point of 25,800 miles (43000 km), and
assuming 1000 miles (1666 km) driven per month, and "severe driving conditions," which
are actually normal usage characteristics, such as frequent short trips, urban driving, waiting in traffic, driving in hot weather, trips under 16 km in cold weather, etc.

2007 GMC Yukon using a quart of Oil every 2000 - 3000 miles

Sounds funny, I would take it to an indepened repair shop and have them check it out, we have many customer's with Yukon and have not heard of that, I have a GMC with over 315,000 miles and between oil changes, maybe a qts low, have it check else where.

Engine compartment seems extemely warm but the engine temperture

service your vehicle soon as a precautionary measure. No warning lights, oil level and engine coolant temp ok then I wouldn't worry but follow the recommended service intervals in your owners manual

Premature oil pump failure 04 A4 3.0 Quattro

Absolutely - the 1.8T engine is known for sludging issues. If they diagnosed oil sludge then your engine is covered no matter the mileage. The oil sludge builds up in the 1.8T no matter how well cared for it is, and the sludge can block the oil pickup screen on the oil pump (it's an extremely fine mesh), causing oil starvation and taking out the engine in the process.

Go to www.audiforums.com and do a search there for "oil sludge" and the information will come up. You can learn all about it there. But if your engine has the sludging, and you have receipts proving the oil was changed at the proper intervals, you will get a new engine free of charge - one of the members there is an Audi technician and I remember him posting that he'd changed out a 180k mile engine under warranty due to sludge.

73k miles needs new engine? 2002 Sentra SER

Did u add oil and attempt to start car? What's it doing? How often did u have to add a quart of oil (in miles)?
It does sound like it was consuming too much oil, but once u run it dry, there is no warantee that will cover it, so manufacturer can't (won't) help u on this. I agree, an engine rebuild would be VERY expensive due to no oil damage, the best thing to do (if the car is in good shape otherwise, trans. good, body good) would be to find a used motor from a scrap yard (must be careful to check mileage and that the 'donor' car wasn't in a bad front end collision which may cause engine problems) or a re-manufactured engine. Any further questions, let me know, sorry for the bad news.

2005 Prius change in MPG after dealer service

What was the weight of the oil that was put into the engine when it was changed? Prius engines are VERY PICKY about the proper weight of the engine oil. Trust me. I see this quite often. The wrong weight oil can do bizzare things, and def lower your mileage. Something you can check: Take off the tube leading to the throttle body, and look down into the intake. Do you see any oil laying in the intake manifold? If so, you DEF have the wrong weight oil. This will NOT set a Check Engine light, either. Hope this helps.
