When I put it in reverse, why does it make a beeping sound?

Sounds like a safety feature alerting you or pedestrians of you going in reverse.

Should the reverse parking sensor beep as soon as car is put in reverse

No. Only when you get too close to a object. It's designed to alert you so you don't run into any object.

Reversing sensors on my 05 Sportage beep constantly when in reverse. I have cleaned sensors but it still happens. What could it be

I am not sure what noise you have. it sounds like its either a reverse alarm which sounds when you are backing up. that's what it is supposed to do. If it is an alarm... it may be telling you that you have a reverse light out.

2000 olds silhouette beeping

Sounds like a reversing beeper has got a problem in the circuit. Check for a reversing switch on the gear box or linkage. Once found disconnect it.
If the problem goes away you may need to replace it as it might also activate the reversing lights.
Good Luck

When I put car in reverse there's sometimes a long beep and sometimes no sound could my sensors damaged ?

Generally the sensors dont get damaged as they are restricted to one function at limited number of times but yes due to time it might need some cleaning to function well.

03 Toyota Matrix will not start. Will start if roll off. Appears to be starter but in common factors are back up lights do not come on and when in reverse the beeping sound does alert (6-speed). Have not...

With the extra info, we can tell the problem is with the park/neutral switch. The same switch that prevents you from starting in gear also turns on the backup lights. The switch is bolted to the transmission and looks like the picture below. The switch is adjustable and may just need adjusting, but unless your car beeps in a different gear, the switch may need to be replaced. When adjusting a new switch, I put the car in reverse with the key on and the brake set (engine off) and I turn the switch until the reverse lights come on. Unfortunately this switch is expensive, so I do suggest you try adjusting it before buying a new one. The price at Autozone is over $200, but you may find one cheaper online. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Beeping when backing up

hi pam from the uk ! the reverse signal/beep can be disconnected however there are different methods of how the beep is operated ? in uk some cars have the reverse light bulbs that are also a beep sounder when reverse engaged ? orthe sounder may be a seperate sounder unit at the rear located either in boot? or behind rear fender? or as you mention beep sounds inside boot area?? the sounder may be hidden behind one of the side panels in boot? if you put ignition on and select reverse then try finding beep location? if/when you find it? just disconnect wirefrom sounder and make sure reverse light/s still remain on tape up the wire disconnected out of way? if it is the bulbs that bleep? you will have to remove and fit an ordinary type bulb usually a flasher/ indicator bulb? hope this is of help and inspires you to diy ? best wishes
