You must loosen the belt tensioner to replace the belt, do not try and stretch the belt as it will be damaged. The alternator also have a setting bracket on to set the tension.

I drive a Renault Trafic 1.9 dci 56 plate and had my steering go very heavy and heard a whining noise and had power steering fluid coming out of what I think is the pump. The fan belt linking the power...

Well, what happened is that the drive belt came off.The big question is,why? Did the pump sieze up,or did the altenator?Or did you go through a big puddle? That would do it too.See if components turn freely and go from there.

Remove an alternator from a 2006, 2500 diesel dodge pick up

as always begin with the negitive on the battery remove terminal.there is what they call a ideler pulley for serpentine belt it typically takes a 3/8 ratchet to put torque on it to remove tension on belt ounce youve completed the belt tension removal move on to the altenator always if in daught on wiring create hand written diagram of wiring.remove wires now take tensioner bolt out, there should be one more for pivoting remove as well.reinstall in reverse.

Is it normal to have to replace pulley, timing belt and fan belt in renault megane cabriolet after 5 years. How much do these spare parts cost? Have been quoted £750 parts and 6 hour labour costs.

Timing belt on 4 cylinder Renaults should be changed every 50-60000 Km. Consequence of not doing so is having the belt break, and damaging valves and valve lifters (extremely costly) . Replacing the belt is time consuming, and labor intensive. So while the belt is out, its is a good investment to replace pulley, belt tensioner/ roller bearing and water pump belt, which is nearby and has to be taken out anyway, for timing belt replacement. Meganes dont have fan belts, they use electric motors for this duty.

This is worrying, the lights are on because the collision detectors have caused the pre tensioners to go off, you will need new belt assemblies and control box, find a good dealer and get the code read first as this is wrong, what area are you in?

POWER TRAIN BELTS LOOSE AND DRAINING BATTERY.. WHAT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO FIX THIS WITHOUT GOING TO A MAINTENANCE SHOP?

Since the Altenator is run off a serpentine belt with an auto tensioner, this may not be the issue, although an old, stretched out belt could be the issue. If it's the original battery it may need changed or the altenator may be failing. Both of these can be tested for free at a local parts store, like Autozone, and I think they can do it while still on the vehicle.
