We had the same problem with our 2001 Silhouette. The power sliding door would not unlock with the key fob, with the ceiling button, with the near door button, by manually pulling the handle on the inside, or by manual pulling the handle on the outside.
My husband and I worked on this problem together and as I was on the outside pulling on the door handle and he was on the inside physically pushing up on the locking mechanism, it began working again!
Then, we managed to "break" it again by trying to open it using the outside handle. So we repeated the maneuver that worked last time and it was fixed again.
So it appears that it jams when the outside door handle is used to open it. And it unjams when you simultaneously use the outside door handle and physically push up on the door lock from the inside.

Do you have the owners manual ........... it will tell you how ...... it requires more than
a battery disconnect ............ if you do not have your manual ....... I will be more specific
door backs up ........ something is blocking it or the door thinks that ..... make sure
NOTHING is near it .......... you can control the auto-backing with the switches in the
overhead center console ...........

most like your contacts on the door and jam are either worn or coroded. try using a soft old tooth brush and a lil dab of toothpste to clean the copper contacts. if the problem still exist the contacts or too worn and should be replaced

If your vehicle has
the dual power sliding doors, both doors will have
to be reset. To reset a door, do the following:
1. Check to be sure the power sliding door is
unlocked and securely closed.
2. Turn the ignition to LOCK.
3. If the power sliding door overhead console
switch is in the override (deactivation)
position, return to the activation position.
4. Open the sliding door using the remote
keyless entry transmitter, overhead console
switch, or passenger switch. Allow the door to
travel fully open.
If the door does not travel to the fully open
position, press the overhead console switch to the
override (deactivation) position and slide the
door fully open and closed. Check for foreign
objects in the tracks. Repeat the procedure starting
with Step 1. If the door resists travel to the fully
open position, see your retailer for service.
