Hi, the throttle position sensor is over one end of the throttle valve shaft , it is held in place by 2 screws, they may be Torx style screws. Unscrew it and replace with a new one...

I'm trying to fix another problem on my lesabre and I saw your question here. I don't know when or if you even will need or read my answer, but I've changed the water pump before on my '93. It's not as impossible as you might think. I'm NOT that mechanically inclined. I'd be happy to describe it in detail if you are interested. Feel free to write me at, and I'll see if I can help.

Basically Theres to scews that hold it on and behind the sensor theres a lever.When you take it off do it slow.And remember the exact location as where the bolts tighten on it..As long as you put it in the exact position it will work perfect.Just remember the way it comes off put back same way on and you'll have no problems.

you will need an ohm volt meter which is cheap these days at any reliable auto parts/Radio Shack store. The setting is 1.5 volts. The TPS is adjustable when the set screws are a little loose. Black wire is negative The other two wires are Positive. You can set this TPS fairly easy with the ignition on. The ohm meter will come with instructions how to use when purchased

SOURCE: 1993 buick lesabre won't start. security light is

The coded key probably needs to relearn. Turn ignition to crank and release. Let sit in on position (engine off of coarse) for a full 10 min. turn off for 30 sec. and repeat 3 times engine should start. This procedure should take 30 min. so a booster is needed to maintain a full 12 volts. Do not attempt w/out a charger connected;

Why does it have intermittent high idle, sometimes for up to 1 min. then goes back down? to normal idle

Check the ICM. Idle control module. If the fuel pressure regulator was the problem, you'd have a hard start condition ans a lack of power.

Continuos high idle

This happened to me, it was the sensor. From the sound of your problem, it sounds like the air flow sensor (relatively cheap fix)

93 lesabre - starts right up but cuts off when you take your foot off the accelerator.

check your map sensor as well as the range on your tps/ throttle postion sensor and your throttle body gaskets sometimes that engine will get a air leak that corrupts the vacumn necessary to operate the fuel rail which in turn will shut the fuel off at a idle

turn on car and use voltmeter on the sensor get the base reading then get a reading with the throttle partly opened and see if it increases or what. it could be faulty, if it is not within spec then get a new one, unplug the batter negative terminal and install new sensor. reconnect everything and you shuold be on your way!
