Probably the anti theft security system. Does your key say PK3 on the shaft? try a different key.

check the cables and connections
take starter motor to parts store to test or use jumper cables to see if it will spin
try turning car motor manually it could be locked up
check solenoid by putting screwdriver between battery post and small screw that had wire attached.
the starter can jump when testing I usually put in vise or use my size 10 to hold it down
if the battery went dead you need the radio code to disable security lock
