There are 2 rods inside the transmission that had each gear on. The upper rod which is also the input shaft that goes through the clutch has 1, 3, 5. The lower rod that sits right under it has the other gears on it. Each one of those rods have bearings on each end. The upper rod may bearing may be bad and may have come apart inside the trans.
You should place the transmission lever in Neutral and, without ~forcing~, move the transfer case lever to another selection. Also try driving in reverse a few feet back to forward a few feet, rocking the vehicle, to relieve the pressure built-up between the front axles and transmission. Make sure front and rear tires are the same size and worn equally to help avoid this problem. Usually the gears and bearings have worn out of specification and this minor symptom appears.
handbrake jammed on somewhere ,could be front cable ,because the rear cable is pulled by the compensator so if it was the rear one then i would expect only one cable siezed and that is normally the kerbside one.
assuming you have brake lights and marker light, I would check the socket for voltage, both the contacts and probe the wire (Brown) for voltage...it could be a bad socket.... if no voltage, trace the "Bwn" wire back and keep probing til you find voltage, check the connector in the trunk on the LT/RT side also...hope this helps you...GL
your Transmission is controlled by a cable on the mustang. it could have Came off of the transmission. it just snaps on to a lever on the transmission. or the cable broke. other wise it came unhooked from your shifter.
