Question about 1998 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

My Camry 1998 model, 240,000 km, while the vehicle moving slowly by pressing brake the odometer mark coming down to zero, car is jarking a little and the fully stoped. then I have to start the car again. It's happening when I am in traffic signal, and in signal definitely you have to use your brake. I guessed it is booster problem. Pleas tell me what is the exact problem and how much it may cost.

Why are breaks hard to press and car won't start

Check that the vacuum hose on the brake booster is ok if it has come apart it will be hard to start . have you checked the fuel and the ignition system ?. to check the brake booster , with the engine stopped press the brake pedal down ,then start the engine, the pedal will move down a little if the booster is ok . if the brakes are still hard to press the wheel cylinders may be stuck.

Just hit 240,000 miles on 2002 Toyota Camry, when should I get a tune up?

Spark Plugs every 3 years since it was new
Have you no preventative maintenance knowledge
Has nothing to so with 240,000 or that vehicle, applies
to all vehicles
Don't you have a maintenance log & experience!!

does it have any other little markings that light up with it? like if it has little lines coming from where the brake lights are then you probably have a brake light bulb blown.

2003 Toyota Corolla - Odometer stopped working yesterday when it hit 299,999 kms's- could this be a fuse issue?

It appears to be a known limitation…
Nicole Grant of Toyota Canada public relations replies:
“Toyota has become aware that on 2003-2008 model-year Corolla and Matrix vehicles, odometer mileage is recorded accurately only up to 299,999 km. A new odometer must then be installed.

Our dealerships record mileage and service dates when an odometer is replaced. A copy of these records is placed in the owner's manual, along with a sticker on the odometer indicating that it was replaced.

Should a used-car buyer have any questions concerning the odometer reading, they may contact Toyota Canada or inquire at the motor vehicle office in the province where the vehicle was originally sold.”

A: Mohamed Bouchama, executive director of Car Help Canada (www.carhelpcanada.com; 416-651-0555), a non-profit consumer advocacy group, replies:
“Toyota should be responsible for the total cost of the repairs. It should "do the right thing by consumers" and recall every vehicle that has this problem due to their factory defective part.”

Odometer does not work

This is a common problem with all models of volvo, with the non digital odometer  pre 1998,, there is a tiny nylon gear deep inside the odometer that needs to be replaced. Your dealer will not fix it, but will put in a new one for you as the cost of fixing in labour is more than a new one,, My solution is much cheeper,, I have
many low milage VOLVO odometer/instr clusters, a few hi'r km 1s

ODOMETERS FROM 1987-PRESENT
I have many pre 1998 Volvo instrument clusters, most with Very low milage, almost all in Km, I have most models of Volvo.

at these prices IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE AN EXTRA ONE , comes with detailed instructions -with pictures-on how to remove your old one and re-install

just for example
I have 4,, 1994-1997 850/s70/v70 /c70turbo with less than 10,000 km
2 1994-1997 850/s70/v70/c70 non turbo with less than 10,000 km
1 1990 740 -940 turbo with less than 4.000 kms

I also have many Volvo instrument clusters from 1987 to PRESENT with varied milage,,let me know what year and model and milage you are looking for,, I will have something close

WILL SHIP ANYWHERE IN N.AMERICA
